Poll:Which is best?
I tried this in the ubi forum, so I want to try it here and get some new opinion's up.
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...3/m/9691075595 (Ubi poll) |
SH3 all the way, tried SH4 - looks pretty but game play is severly lacking compared to SH3. Only time will tell with the 4th installment, but with GWX 1.04 eagerly awaited by everyone I think the life of SH3 has been extended and my interest in the game also.

i dont think we should do "wich is best" before we get something like GWX or NYGM for SHIV
|
Polls, and more polls. Do we get anything out of these?
Actually Aces of the Deep was the best. |
Kinda unfair putting SH1 and SH2 up there given their relative age and dated graphics. And we already have a SH3 versus SH4 poll.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=104374 What is this obsession with meaningless polls lately anyway? |

I would also be obliged to you if you would refrain from being so rude to someone of a much senior age to yourself :yep: You have posted a thread on a public forum and as such every member has an equal right to respond.....whether you agree with said response or not :know: |
I don't see AOD on there, which is the original great U-boat subsim.
I can tell you which is the worst, though: SH2. As a game it was awful, until several mods saved it. As a multiplayer game it was better. As a sim nothing could save if from the 'scripted missions' curse. |

Silent Hunter 3.
Better FPS than SH4, better mods, better ships available, better execution, and actually finished upon release (though mods tune it to what we want, even though vanilla was fun). NEXT |
SH3 is the best

NOT AGAIN! :damn::damn::damn::damn::damn::damn::damn:

For me, its all about immersion, and the most immersion I ever had in a sub was playing Wolves At War with SH3 and NYGM).
Currently i'm playing around with SH4. looks pretty but its sevearly lacking in so many areas on the immersion front that i'm anticipating GWX 1.04 with RacerBoys and OneLifeCrisis mods. |
What makes the poll fairly worthless, is the answers will be different depending on which forum it's placed.
Ask in the SH3 forum, and SH3 will be labeled the best. Ask in the SH4 forum, and SH4 will be labeled the best. So it becomes a bit pointless. Honestly, I like them both because they give me different things. Completely different feel/atmosphere. Sometimes I just feel like playing a German in the Atlantic, sometimes I don't. SH4 got pushed out the door early as a business decision by Ubisoft. As I recall, SH3 was plagued with similar problems, and the community was in an uproar, until patches and modders caught up with the problems. SH3 has a unique ambiance, and to this day there is amazing modding work being done to it. I have re-installed it simply because of Racerboys SH4 effects mod, and onelifecrisis' new gui tools. Just like SH3, SH4 is being patched, and there is also some truly amazing modding going on with it. With 2 more years of technical advancement in gaming in general, it is actually the technically superior game, and it should not be criticised for 'framerates' simply because the game has moved up with current technology, while some gamers equipment has not. I think both games should be respected for their various strengths, and the players of each, and their choices, should be respected as well. Cheers. |

Opinions are also a wonderful thing, but unfortunately we're just two guys sitting down on the Internet and typing this stuff up whilst our opinions will never really matter in the world, sadly. That's life, though. You always have someone that disagrees with you, but although I may disagree with your post, I'll defend to the death your right to say it. |
SH VII in 4D ;)
