Played demo and found it kinda fun but think games to pricey for what you get imho.

edit: Played 2006 demo

SS2008 will be so much better than 2006. I found SS2006 fairly boring, especially when compared to something like FS2004. I will definetely be trying SS2008.

_Seth_ 07-09-07 09:31 AM

I bought SS2008 this morning from their site, and am sofar pleased with it. It kinda looks like Virtual Sailor on steroids, but then i havent tried it out so much yet.

Where did you get that price? According to XE.com 37 euros (the price of the download version) is only $50.99

The Milkman 07-13-07 06:54 PM

the only thing better about this one is its gonna have weather options, ex: waves, wave hight, rain, thunder lighting, and a few more ships. deffinatly not worth 75 bucks jesus.

I'm pretty sure it shall be available from Gamer's Gate and Steam in the not too distant future for around $39.99 USD.

Does it have real world weather like in MSFS?

flintlock 07-17-07 08:41 PM

Weather systems, yes. Downloadable recent weather and real world forecasts, no.

Pitty, a game like this could really do with that feature. It makes exploring differant areas of the world more exciting.

I have to admit, I've always wondered what it would be like to operate one of those container cranes.

Does the inclusion of container loading suggest some sort of economic model or underlying shipping tycoon-ish game play? That would be cool!

Vector-based charts, hmmm... wonder what that is? :hmm:

You may have actually piqued my interest... checking link now...

XLjedi 07-18-07 04:08 PM

Are you kiddin me? That thing looks AWESOME!

The ship models... the waves... the roaming on deck...

You guys gotta take a minute and look at the WMV in their sample pic directory.

I'll tell ya Vstep has my undivided attention now! :ping:

Watch that video and keep in mind how this thing could evolve by just adding weapon systems. I'm very tempted to register and start littering their forums with requests for a naval combat sim.

Those rolling waves... and while wandering the deck like that... that's just cool.

And I get to operate one of these!
