papa_smurf 07-08-07 11:11 AM

Do you need GWX, or will it run on stock SH3?

PapaG39 07-08-07 11:45 AM

Just curious, I'm about to load up SH 3 & give er-a-go... Just how long "ball park figure" in actual hours are required to do a complete campaign? Assuming of course, that you live to finish it...

How bout how many weeks or months  Depends how you play it.

PapaG39 07-09-07 02:20 AM

ha ha...Your kidding right? This is a-game not another 4 year hitch With Uncle...or in this case, Der Fuhrer.
I mean, aren't you able to get through those long empty parts of the (going someplace) by fast forwarding?

I read someplace that it will slow to normal when something is in the area giving you a chanch to then do the search drill...

I've done a lot of canoeing, but never more then a few hundred yards from the shoreline... Ha Ha...I'll be "lost at sea" man, I've got a lot to learn I guess..

I never went any further in math then doing my check book or a little compound interest... angles & sea speeds are going to be a big challenge for my brain...lol..:hmm:

You can up time compression while in the game, then back to 1x when ready boat to attack etc. And instead of heading back to base you can use the Esc key and choose dock at base - but theres no way you could complete a campaign career in a couple of hrs like you asked, a patrol yes but a career will take you a while if your aiming at starting from 1939 and playing your way to 1945.

Ive had the game since 2005 and im yet to finish a career :rotfl: I get so far with one career then decide its time to start a new one  . furthest ive got is 1939 to late 1944 and manage to take command of an XXI. Ive lost count on how many careers ive started.

I just started up a new one the other day! :rotfl:

"Oh and welcome to subsim PapaG39" Didn't realize you were new here should of guess with the question you asked. I'll say this before anyone else does, when you get the hang of SH3, download the GWX mod! :D

thanks,

I dont know your guess is as good as mine, i think they're in 1944 now, but yeah i might wait for when they restart back in 1939. Someone who is playing waw might be able to help.

As for me im having trouble completing the WAW Training mission the last one where you have to hunt down the convoy between Grids AO83 - AO56, the convoy i think is the one i should attack as its roaming around the map, i have died 3 times now the escorts are elite, and im in a Type IIA! Even before i can set my boat up for a good shot the escorts are on to me and im running at 2knots. So far i have been sunk or had to retreat and try find her again.

Anyone whos done this Training mission know what the Red Flags should look like. Im just hoping im attacking the right convoy:hmm: 3 unarmed ships protected by 3 or 4 escorts that ARENT SLEEPING!

I believe the next campaign will start in September, exact date has yet to be announced.

It has been a long time since I have done the training mission but, it sounds like you have the right convoy Kiwi.

kiwi_2005 07-09-07 07:23 PM

Yep it was, sunk a Tramp steamer, primary objective complete. Now i need to evade depth charges and get home.

I died 3 times trying to attack this convoy i never got close enough to fire a torpedo and 3 times i had to start from begining. I was so relieved to sink her this time! Their i was travelling at 1 knot slowly inching my way for an attack, the escorts pinged me:nope: But i found instead of panicing and going deep i stayed at periscope depth this time and rasied scope to have a quick look around, that escort was getting real close coming right for me, still i stayed put, then within about 100metres she turns away and drops depth charges nowhere close to me then heads off. I was able to then setup and attack.

And that was just a training mission:rotfl:

Should of called myself Bernard:roll:

Who do folks use for personas over there?

I am Georg-Wilhelm Schulz. Plus he has great pics available.

If there was a movie, they should get Thomas Kretschmann (Fegelien from Downfall) or Gary Oldman to play him.
