Thank you SHIV/ubi
Thank you for inspiring me to go back to SHIII.
Not that my opinion matters any but to me even though going back to the pacific for SHIV was a logical choice, I think it was a gamble. I know SHIV is an improved version of the SHIII engine but to me III has extremely superior replay-ability than IV. I can't quite put my finger on why but the atmosphere just isn't the same in IV. Is it the theater of operations? The huge differences in the story/history of the two theaters? The lack of a sense of urgency? The IMHO clunky interface? The headaches that come with rushed code? All of the above? I don't know. I must admit though, I was really excited about IV and I love eye candy (more than I should). I played more than a few patrols in IV. I complained about the bugs and waited for the patches, then I gave it another chance. It's still yet to grow on me which is sad because environmentally it's a great looking sim. I still have stability issues with it (I know, don't give me any crap) that just exacorbate the annoyance. So to get my non-CTD'ing, non-beta, immersively satisfying fix for a subsim I've resurrected SHIII after months of being relagated to the dusty shelf that is nothing more than a wasteland of old retired games. It's for this that I say thank you, but above all, an even bigger thank you goes out to ALL the modders and folks who've contributed to making SHIII what it is today. . . . . A superior experience overall. Now if you'll pardon me, it seems I've recieved a radio report about a convoy in my grid. |
Yup. Never had more fun playing SHIII since SHIV 1.2

How creative of you :-?
Im sure your backhanded insults will sting UBI to their core. Its BS like this that will make them think "Why should we bother ?" |
SW...like they care what I think...
|
Thanks for sharing, have fun.

- improved SHIV through another patch - a better overall SHV on release day - no SHV at all, why bother with these people they say - very few modding options in SHV, since modded SH5 might keep people from buying SH6 - frustrated developers - lots of laughter in the office - "who is this bobo guy" ? - strange looks, nodding, etc. |
The above is just my opinion, I do hope that someday SHIV will capture me. Afterall, I don't think it's completely crap, it has potential.
Thank you u-bones, I'm positive I've read something of yours that was helpful to me. Sincerely thank you. |

Perhaps you should also thank elanaiba for caring enough to read and comment. Has to be a tough place to visit atm... |

Anyway, SH3 has been completely removed from my computer. I do not have any intentions of loading it up again. To each their own I guess. |

Terrapin, it seems I can't log on at u-boot.realsimulation again or get my password sent to me. The PW I used before isn't working. Send me an email when you get a chance as there is no other way to contact you. ;)
Thanks mate. And sorry if I'm off subject here.... I'll delete this once I hear from him. |

I like not fighting for a fascist regime, I like getting to use a GATO boat, I like the improved graphics, I miss the radio shack. SH3 is uninstalled. At some stage I might put it back on, but not anytime soon. |
Forgive my ignorance but I don't know who Elanaiba is. Judging by responses I can only guess he has something to do with the product. In which case he deserves more than a thank you. I never intend to trash anyone's hard work. I know what it's like on a different level (Enterprise Storage Array's). I've put up with customer crap as well but poor features/functionality/performance is rarely due to any one persons contribution or lack there of. Customer crap is taken up to mgmt as feedback for improvements. Most of the time it takes a large pile of crap from multiple customers taking a dump in yer office to make a difference but occasionally even a small turd gets visibility. Once in a great while I get passed a little turd and am able to make difference and that feels great. There's difference's in Hardware vs Software, one company's ethics vs anothers but I've never seen a load of crap do anything other than create dialogue for improvements. If we were to throw up our hands and say "screw it, they b!tch too much" we wouldn't be the No.1 provider of storage array solutions across the globe.
