Who adjusts wave height in SH3Cmdr?

Have decided to celebrate my 200th post with a poll/survey.

Having reloaded a while back, I guess to go to GWX102 at the time, I realized yesterday that I hadn't selected the seasonal wave height option in SH3Cmdr. Feeling I wanted to stick with the realism (my own perception of same) of seasonal, I switched back to seasonal and H**y S****s are the waves ever high (October), I'd forgotten ... I'm spending half my time on the surface actually under the surface.

So this got me curious as to how many people use the SH3Cmdr feature to set wave height, and if they do, what setting they use. So join me in my 200th post and let us know your wave height settings.

Yes. Seasonal. Great in summer. A pain in Winter. ;)

Seasonal all the way. Happy 200th post too, I guess! :arrgh!:

Yes seasonal here too.
Using the GWX and I still havent encountered a storm to see those high waves.
Also went thro the Channel back in my NYGM days without being detected.

Guess I'm just lucky

I set it to standard.

I would love to set it higher, but I find it incredibly annoying to see the watch crew remain on station while submerged

Yup, I use the seasonal setting, too.

Mooncatt 03-31-07 04:04 AM

seasonal for me too

robbo180265 03-31-07 04:56 AM

standard at the moment, I'll be trying seasonal when I get back to port.

melnibonian 03-31-07 05:13 AM

Seasonal for me as well :yep:

Genferret 03-31-07 06:46 AM

Seasonal, it's all the little things like this added up that bring so much realism to this game imho.

Jimbuna 03-31-07 07:01 AM

Seasonal :arrgh!:

STEED 03-31-07 07:57 AM

I leave it.

I set mine for Double, and have ever since the original Big Waves mod. Why not Seasonal? Because once again I can't use the deck gun but it looks calm in summer. Of course I have the Storm Conditions set fairly high, so I actually can use the gun, but it's the principle of the thing.

Or maybe I'm just being contrary.

Seasonal most of the time but Stardard sometimes.

Storm conditions meaning the point at which your guys refuse to go out there?

If so, that's actually change-able, and where might one go to do this?

Seasonal for me!:D

I think GWX does it for you, and I know NYGM does. If you're not using either one, make sure you're patched to 1.4b and go to each individual 'Submarine' folder. You'll find a line called 'StormConditions'. Raise the value to 11, or even 15 if you like. Since I'm using x2 waves I don't let my guys go to the deck gun if I can see water washing over the deck, but it seems more real to let them use the flak guns at a little higher setting.

Thanks, I just looked and saw what you were talking about. There are also comments next to it in each to let you know what the values are for. One being wind speed and the other being how bad it's raining.

I agree regarding the Flak, that's the part that annoyed me most. Especially on those U-boats where the guys are in a cage right up in the control tower anyhow.

Sailor Steve 03-31-07 05:20 PM

Oh, I forgot: be aware that the bad weather clothes are related to the same file. If you set the values for higher, you might find yourself in high waves and pouring rain and your watch crew will still be wearing short sleeves.
