Calling all Militaria Enthusiasts
I need help identifying a product, until i get a picture, toil over this..
green belt, with a polished metal buckle, the belt buckle has an eagle, with a cross over its chest and crown between its outstretched wingtips. any help will be greatly appreciated. |
I'd guess its an airforce belt? Possibly old American but I'm by no means an expert on militaria
|
Never seen a crown on any American military insignia. European monarchy perhaps?
|
If it's American, which I'm sure it's not, it's very old.
|
my friend said possibly the kings hussars but i checked them to no avail
the design is similar though: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King%27s_Royal_Hussars without the ball and scepter and instead of initials, a cross on the chest. |
Not American at all. Possibly ~18th century Western Europe. My bet is on Spain.
|
This thread sucks without pictures. I'm just saying....

green canvas, silver, religious..
will get a pic tomorrow |
Sounds vaguely like a serbian/montenegro piece. The Serbian coat of arms features a two-headed eagle with a Christian cross on its chest and a crown suspended overhead. (pictured below) Perhaps this piece is an adapted version?

okie dokie,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...8/P1010025.jpg WARNING THIS PHOTO IS AROUND 800 KB'S for those unfortunate people with dial up. have a look, whats your diagnosis ty! |
anything?
|
Looks either English or Spanish. I could be wrong though...
|
Would you be able to get that photo in a better lighting?
It does look strikingly similar to the Polish National crest, although the eagle in your photo has a cross overlaid onto it and it looks like it's holding objects in each foot. http://www.tslpl.org/images/Eagle2_.jpg |
Don't know, but it's a nice looking buckle.
I'll bet a dollar it's eastern European though. |
The eagle looks Polish, I am guessing that the belt is from a unifrom of a catholic military priest, pre-WW2, II Polish Republic. I will check my book and look if I cant find anything there.
|
getting the lighting right i difficult i got a few more but they are all bright.
hang on.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...8/P1010022.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...8/P1010021.jpg again both are above 800 kbs i think about the military priest thought, its not the first time i've been quizzed whether or not that is it origin, we'll see |
I did not manage to find anything in my books.
But I am starting to doubt polish origin of the eagle, the thing that makes me doubt is the crown, it's not mounted on the head, polish eagles always had the crown mounted. Prussian eagles often had the crown unmounted, yet above the head, like this one. On the other hand, polish military eagles always had their wingtips aimed up in the air like this one, and the cross looks a lot like the cross of the lutheran military priests http://www.luteranie.pl/edw/ I recommend you to visit this forum http://forum.axishistory.com/ If the historical fanatics over there won't manage to help you, you might as well stop looking. Good luck! |
Maby Italy? The cross is very prominent in it.
|
Spanish they think man.. this is really interesting i wanna know who was wearing it now...!!
