Many thanks. without your hard work I'd probably have lost interest long ago, now I'm obsessed with the game:up:

I'm a little confused. When I follow the link all I can find is the Dec23 patches. Have you changed this to include the new patch ? or am I following the wrong link?

Hi and thanks for your help.
I've deleted my history and refreshed the page, but all I'm seeing under hotfixes is this: 1. 23 December 2006 Patch - includes all fixes and corrections since GWX release - 10mb (MD5 hash: 59d307aa005279a45f657d9ab8526841) http://files.filefront.com/GWX___Dec_23rd_Corrections7z/;6411173;;/fileinfo.html http://rapidshare.com/files/8734870/GWX_-_Dec_23rd_Corrections.7z.html http://s2.quicksharing.com/v/7089894/GWX_Dec_23rd_Corrections.7z.html http://hosted.filefront.com/bigboywooly/1891035 http://files.filefront.com/GWX___Dec_23rd_Corrections7z/;6437257;;/fileinfo.html Is it one of these? and if so which one? |
All those links give you the same Dec-23 Update files. There are more than one link as different people uploaded the files to give people more options to download them. If you want the Dec-23 patch you just have to click on ONE of those links.

It's ok - I'm sorted now. Thanks Danlisa:up:

Many thanks to the GWX team...:up:
A question though...I'm in the middle of a patrol right now. What effect will the patch have on my saved game?... ............ edit: And another problem.... I removed via JSGME all mods, rolled back SH3cmmdr and run the setup...this error message appears... http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/4408/kjkjew9.jpg I dont get it. All mods are de-activated via JSGME...what is wrong?... |

Yep. First thing I did was to read carefully the info and do all of the above. Why the error message?...as I show, no mods are enabled in JSGME. Sh3Cmmdr is rolled back, and my last save is in a patrol. Should I delete my last saves too? (that would be a disaster, I'm returning from the most nerve shattering and breathtaking patrol in my carreer) |

then Disable/Enable Mods via JSGME. You appear to have done this in the wrong order. Do you have a 'clean' copy of SH3 and/or GWX saved on your HDD? Quote:

You must be in port when you apply the patch. I've just left port on my current patrol so won't be able to apply the patch until I get back to Kiel.

Yes I know what you mean, but its not a problem. SH3cmmdr was rolled back BEFORE the mods were de-activated. As I always try new mods, I have the habit to rollback SH3cmmdr every time I finish playing (A pop up is shown just as you exit the game or crash to DT). There is no way that I installed or uninstalled mods with SH3cmmdr enabled.
Hm...now that I remember, I have changed manually some files (added Queen Mary without JSGME and slightly increased renown alloted for airplanes). Could the patch see these changes as JSGME mods enabled?...if that is correct, I'll go to full uninstall - re-install *sigh*... edit: If the midpatrol saved game does it, I'll finish the patrol and try the patch then. Thanks for the help mate.... |
Assuming that you've opened the JSGME that is installed in the same folder as the SilentHunterIII that you want to patch, then you must have residual files left under that JSGME install, most likely from manually deleting mods that were still installed.
To check, open up the SilentHunterIII folder that you want to install the patch into (in Windows Explorer). You should see a MODS sub folder. Under it will be a !BACKUP folder. If you have ANY FILES under that backup folder, then, based on your screenshot above, you have residual files left over from previous mods. To be blunt, this would be indicative of poor housekeeping (not disabling or enabling mods correctly or deleting mods that are still enabled). *If* this is the case, then you have two options: 1. Delete everything under the !BACKUP folder and "hope for the best", recognising that any subsequent CTDs will most likely be caused by conflicting files (if the installer doesn't pick it up of course). 2. Trash the install and start again. Personally, I'd go the latter (your CTD comment above, whilst perhaps flippant, seems suggestive of an unstable installation). Now if you *don't* have any files under !BACKUP then your problem is most likely easier to correct - simply make sure that the installation you selected in the installer is the same as the installation for which you disabled the mods. ;) EDIT: No, you won't get this error if you manually modified files directly in your SH3. You may, however, get another error (which does not look to be the case here) saying that you don't have a proper GWX install. However, simply installing a new ship and editing renown should not upset the installer. But you will need to re-add the ship to your *Names.cfg file afterwards, but that should be all that is required. |
