good god!!! looks like you've got resolution coming out your butt!!!
AWESOME JOB!!!

have to get this one....

Fish40 06-18-08 10:22 AM

Looks great:up:, and thanks!

Xantrokoles 06-18-08 02:29 PM

shivers:cool:

I guess you were the man for making high res VIIC skins for Sh4!
I have big problems with the standard textures in a game with lightmaps:damn:
they are to brighten.

Thanks for this mod!

OakGroove 06-18-08 02:57 PM

Xantrokoles,
i´d love to!

There´s still quite some specular shine on these too, especially visible @ low sun / night. I also didn't quite get the details on i wanted to, because it would have involved UV editing, requiring a 3D app and at least some basic knowledge on polygonal modelling - both of which i don't have.

Concerning lightmaps - if you work with Photoshop try adding a layer with a light gray (i.e. R:190 G:190 B:190) and set it's blend mode to "Darken". This will tone down anything lighter than this to the specified level (eliminating whites).

You might also want to keep the alpha channel rather dark. I´m still experimenting with the latter.

I'm sorry to ask this but how do I change the color scheme?
Do I have to rename the files or is this multi skin and based on date?

I forgot: Thanks for this it looks splendid!

OakGroove 06-18-08 03:25 PM

No problem.

Default would be dunkelgrau (*T01). If you select the "Alberich" coating, the schlickgrau (*T01T) skin is used. I`m not entirely sure when/where you get the Blaugrau (*T02) skin. However, you could always rename the respective files, so that the preferred skin is displayed.

Ishigami 06-18-08 04:17 PM

Ahhhh check!

Indeed really gorgeous!
Will you create more of these or was it just an exception? Because I think it is really good and I would like to see more of your work.
I think Xantrokoles was talking about this playable Type VIIC/41: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=133658
in which creation he was involved.
Maybe you two could reskin this beauty in “HD”? - That would be awesome! :sunny:

Not that I’m saying the actual skin looks bad, no! I really like it. I’m using the camouflage pattern that was delivered as an alternative. It’s just not as sharp as the others (I’m using the high res reskins from FooFighter for the fleet boats).

Other than this I think keltos01 has some new submarines. :hmm:

It’s just what I think, because FooFighter did a really good job at the fleet boats and I don’t know if it’s really that benefiting to reskin these again. I would rather see some mods getting skins in a higher resolution with more details.

Darn I think I sound too bossy… sorry for that. :damn:
Basically I got no right to say anything as I'm only a user and don’t produce something of value for the community. :dead:

Any way nice work, keep it up. :yep:

Vorkapitan 06-18-08 06:35 PM

Looks very good, keep it coming... how about other US skins?

Alex 06-18-08 06:52 PM

It looks very nice, mate !

ReallyDedPoet 06-18-08 07:21 PM

Nice work :yep::up:

Thanks Ishigami,

glad you like them. Providing time and reference material permits, i'd like to do some more skins, though i think that U.S. boats are well served atm. Currently i have some camouflage patterns for the IX D2 in the works. Next would be a set for Tomi's VIIC ... though i'm afraid it requires more than just new textures ... and i can only help with the latter

Ishigami 06-19-08 09:59 AM

Wow great to hear! Looking forward to it (both of course, I like camouflage patterns :yep: )

Hitman 06-19-08 02:13 PM

Great work as usual Oak :D

I'm downloading, but can you also post a pic of the Dunkelblau? That was precisely the colour used by the IXD2 U-Boats in late war, one of the few colour pictures of WW2 shows that very well :yep:

Fish40 06-20-08 05:33 PM

A quick question: I activated the mod via JSGME, and was immediately informed that one file was already altered by OM v2.0, and another by the "caustic, roll/pitch" part of PE3. What exactly will happen, or what will I lose from these other two mods if I activate? Can anyone advise?

AVGWarhawk 06-20-08 06:37 PM

Oakgroove! I wondered what happen to you! You knocked everyones socks off with your HUD for the fleet boats and kind of slipped away. Glad your back. I like the new skins for the U's nice work:rock:

Xantrokoles 06-21-08 04:23 AM

I wanna add something to this:

The VIIC/41 is good.
But I am currently working on a much better version!
Cause he released a more detailed one and I am gonna add it in my atlantic mod.
So no rush with this OakGroove!
I want to make the Atlantic mod fully working and then there come mods for it like textures campaign, ships, upgrades and so on:up:

Xantrokoles 06-21-08 04:41 AM

@ Oak
-> my trick is it until now, darking all the textures.
at night and during bad weather it looks very good, but with sunshine it looks cheap.

Have you seen Mikhayl's IIB? it look great everytime. Its textures have the best grey scale or so?

bunkerratt 06-21-08 02:28 PM

nice work once again ......:up::rock:

I´ve modified the NSS_Uboat9d2.dat and Turm_9d2_1.dat for specular/gloss levels, so these 2 might be conflicting. Using skwas silent editor you could manually alter your current .dat files to keep the changes made by OM/PE3. Note the included NSS_Uboat9d2.dat and Turm_9d2_1.dat are not necessary for the skins to be displayed.
