What's happened with uboats-realsimulations.com

what's happened to U-boat ralsimulations .com I tried going to the site and it seems there's a problem a message comes up in bols "One of must Go "I read the link "why" about stealing Mods, but every time I go to the sh3 d/load page I have to agree to the terms and conditions and my IPadress is logged if somebody is stealing mods of the site (the way I read it) wouldn't there IP address be logged somewhare?

You tell that to X1. The fact is, the addon is already out and selling; and they're giving promises of patches that are, well, due to feature some of the mods that have been made freely and without X1's participation recently.

If people have to learn the hard way, it's better than not learn at all. Meanwhile, I think spreading the word and protesting X1's handling of this anywhere and in any way possible should be the concern of everyone who cares about SHIII's mod community!

please ignore.

Woah. terrapin, you're scaring me! What's up with this? We don't want your site to go. I can't even begin to fathom not having the site around. Please don't take the site away. :(

Hes just trying to put more pressure on the SHIII community to do something about X1... good move on his part. His site is pretty much the life blood of all major SHIII mods :o

Heavy duty stuff... I agree with energetic protesting against X1... but to kill a whole village to get a couple of insurgents....

Rotten timing too... :(

Edit: See my below post

Did you know you can call Mr. Trombke at his real work, too?
Just in case you want to say "thank you for your great work" or something.
I´m sure he would be happy about some customer feedback...

I have to agree. This is cutting off one's nose to spite one's face.

This simply prevents people from loading downloads for free and might even have the reverse effect of making people consider buying mods - stolen or otherwise.

Terrapin, please reconsider.

The correct course of action is through legal challenge.

Read my previous post. I have just downloaded several mods from that excellent site.

Edit - Gone now. Must have been a back door.

Lets hope this is resolved soon.

sorry

No offence but id say its a very BAD move. This only proves x1 is winning. [...] <Moderator edit: Do not suggest illegal behaviour - Gizzmoe>

And to keep all free mods public to minimize their sell figures, the more availability for free downloads of mods the better, sorry but you are cutting your own head off :/

I think I have to agree. Doing this only makes free mods that much less accessible, and that will only end up putting money in X1's pocket. Terrapin, please bring back your site. A protest is a good thing, but let's figure out a way to do it more efficiently.

One way to do it would be to find out exactly which mods in Seawolves are available for free, and simply advertise the heck out of them. You could simply tell people what X1 is doing and show them which of the Seawolves mods they can download for free. You could package up all the mods in question and advertise them as a package, with a notice saying that your site supports mod-makers and (unlike X1) will not take advantage of them.

And don't forget the power of the media... for example, PC User here in Australia include game mods on their magazine cover discs. Getting on a few such discs worldwide would have much more impact on X1 than shutting down, essentially, a community hub, which will really only impact on us.

As Beery says, there are better ways to protest...

Have to admit I never thought of this..

Does make sense..that him shutting down the site only hands X1 Software the win and all but guarentees them money in their pockets from people looking to get the mods.

Very unsmart move when you think about it.Open the site back up and make people aware that every mod on that X1 CD is and can be gotten for free.
