What is that image from on the new Discord menu thingie, I'm wondering if its from a game that I haven't seen before?.

What the hell are you on about?

Moonlight 07-09-17 01:51 PM

Where?

Care to note i use Admiral Blue look.

Eichhörnchen 07-09-17 03:10 PM

That's why you can't see it, cos it's blue. It looks like it's a sort of free version of 'Teamspeak' and more (CW encourages me to try Teamspeak now and again, though why he'd want to hear my rasping, grating voice I can't think).

I'm using subsim smartdark, here's the background image I'm getting when I click on that Discord thing, is it from WOW or something similar.

Discord seems to be some sort of VoIP chat system. I Googled the link source from the link on the bar and found a couple of concerns:

1. The actual link returns as this:

...and the "Learn More" has the following description:

2. Discord may or may not be fully legit or safe given this Wikipedia entry:

Discord has had problems with hostile behaviour and abuse within chats, with some communities of chat servers being 'raided' by other communities. This includes flooding with controversial topics related to race, religion, politics and pornography.

Caveat emptor...

Yeh!! Pull discord and see what happens!!:D

Discord is a growing new chat service, several people have urged me to get a Subsim server started, so there it is.:Kaleun_Salute:

No intention to, as the kids say, "throw shade", Neal: if nothing else, you are one of the most trustworthy people I know... :Kaleun_Salute:

However, it is bit difficult to be fully comfortable with something called "Discord"... :03:

That is not unique to Discord. Most VoIP chat rooms have this issue. But's not even an issue with VoIP. It's a people issue. Back when I played WoW days, if somebody from a rival clan would somehow get your VoIP chat room password, then sometimes a bunch of unfriendlies would crash your party. Just like party crashing IRL, bunch of people you don't want in your room. Of course, hitting some one with a Ban Hammer in real life tends to get you in trouble.

I have no fear at all that SubSim would get raided like this, there's no rivals, we gave the tank and aero sim peeps their own corner so they'd quit complaining. Aside from a lone individual being stupid, I don't see any problem here.

It's taking over TeamSpeak in popularity as a major gaming communication platform.
