[REL] Texture touch up

Don't trust the 1 start rating. someone with a vendetta marked me ; ; . Extract the rar to your mods folder. Enable "Killer tubes better textures" and your off. There are 2 screenshots on my filefront also. A small comparison remember to look at everything though. The sea walls the other ships in the pictures ect. You can see the changes everywhere. So much was touched up i just cant show it all. all the ships, planes, cargo, some people, some buildings, all metals, woods, guns.. well u get the picture lol. I just thought a lot of items needed some texture added. seemed too smooth. I tried to roughen them up a little and make the colors brighter in some places, darker in others. Check it out figured id share it. Happy Hunting :yeah:

forgot to mention i took the screenshots at 1838x1036 no AA, shadows off and gamma a little over normal. Everything else was max

Thanks KT - how about some screenshots? :)

Since you are working on improving the texture files -
Can I draw your attention to the stock Aircraft in SH5?
I noticed since release, that some of the aircraft have their paint scemes somewhat 'rushed' by the Ubi Devs.
In some cases, the camo patten is painted on the underside of the plane- when it should be a pale colour of some sort!

Trouble is, when you see an aircraft from a U-boat, all you see is the underside! It must look like they are flying up side down LOL :O

I've not looked at the DDS files but I'll bet that to fix this, the actual meshes will need the UVW clusters to be edited as well as either redoing or adding an additional DDS file - so not a simple texture fix.
Just in case you want to take look at it in the future mate :) -quite a alot of trouble to go through, though.

KillerTube 04-29-10 03:03 AM

didnt know that

yea but just to be clear thats the dev teams fault its not in my download. did you check out my textures yet? hope ya do. they did pretty up the game a bit but i may be bias lol. ps you may be right i didnt even know that was a problem. guess i need 3dmax again XD. hope they fix that in the patch.
pps please post about a mod after you have seen it not before.. Thats kinda like posting about a movie you never watched lol.. thanks.

Thanks very much for your work.

Could you please post some screenshots on here KillerYouTube?

I tried to Download but it's saying the file is Corrupt :( I'll try again...

Yeah, apparently this file is the problem:

KillerTubes_Better_Texs\Data\Textures\TNormal\tex\ 40mm_BoforsM9_T01.dds. The file is corrupt

Nevermind, we can go without that :)

KillerTube 04-29-10 05:19 AM

Woah there,
Before you hit the 'Stalinist censorship button' and have me exiled to Siberia. Could please allow me the oppotunity to amend my post? :o
I have no wish to scare people off so -Original post edited for clarity.

KillerTube 04-29-10 01:19 PM

Yes I will

Yea Ju 88 sure i will look at that. hopefully something easy i can fix. gonna wait on any more modding till the patch. But if its as easy as doing a new texture or adjusting the existing one I probably will do it. Like you said editing mesh would be rough and probably not worth the time, so hopefully not needed. im just kinda textured out atm after 500 textures ><. Also after the patch im gonna set my eye on bigger mod jobs. something like what me and my brother did with sh4. DDenvironment. My sh4 lightshafts look better than sh5s :haha:.
Feedback always appreciated , let me know what ya think.

Textures are crispier overall. I like it. I especially like the bumpy look of the sub's exterior paint. The on-board torpedoes also look better, or am i just seeing things ?

KillerTube 05-01-10 02:39 AM

ur not seeing things

the onboard torps also have the bumpier looking textures now also. along with the wood and metal surfaces in the sub. periscope ect. thanks thats exactly what i did. crisp them all up and add texture to make everything a little less smooth and cartoonish looking. :salute:

KillerTube 05-02-10 01:26 PM

BS

My mod is not terrible so who gave it a one rating.. weak guys...... I do all this work and get some jerk with a vendetta marking my mod as terrible.. its a freaking texture touch up mod how terrible can it be XD.
Boo too whoever did that. if you all look.. the one guy who actually looked at my mod said it was nice and he liked it.

Bish0p 05-02-10 02:30 PM

I find these textures to be infinitely better than the default textures.
EVERY single texture in the game has been given a bump mapping, every texture has been enhanced visually to make it seem clear and not plain and dark like it was.
The boats no longer look like rubber duckies floating in a bath tub with their perfectly smooth paint jobs, that looked entirely unrealistic.

there are 500 textures in here that took a ****load of time to redo.
Have some freaking decency people.
Don't rate them unless you try them.

trotter 05-02-10 04:21 PM

Sounds interesting I'll give it a try

Placoderm 05-02-10 09:04 PM

Screenshots?

...Anyone?

I'm not really keen on downloading a .rar file on filefront, scanning it for viruses before unpacking the .rar (no offense, but it is recommended practice for any compressed binary), unpacking it, then opening the files in paintshop and reviewing the images just to see if it is worth downloading and installing in SH5. It is much easier and conserves considerably more bandwidth just to place some images in the thread...

So, please? Some screenshots of the texture improvements?

:yep:
