McHub532's Interior Graphics Daydreaming Ideas Thread
Okay, most of you can just ignore this thread because it is mostly going to be me daydreaming about possible ideas.
Goals: 1. Post screenshots of current interior sub graphics with modifications and/or writings to point out ideas for improvements or additional flavor. 2. Others also encouraged to make additions of their own and to comment on what McHub532 or others have submitted here so we can work together to come up with fantastic ideas as a group. 3. Spark enough great ideas that some modder will pick up one, or two, or a couple dozen of the ideas and bring them to life in a mod. 4. Perhaps by taking this first step, some of us that are utterly dumbfounded on how to mod... will take baby-steps to learning how to implement some of these ideas ourselves... some day. Format 1. Take a screenshot. 2. Modify the screenshot to try and show what new idea you have. 3. Post screen shot in this thread and include your description and ideas as part of your post. 4. Try and be nice to each other. Realism, flavor, fun all have their place. If someone posts an idea you think is lame, please respect that they might not be exactly like you; but still love this game and have something to contribute. Be nice. |

My idea here is as such: When not at Battle Stations: 1. The racks/beds are folded down. 2. Two guys are sitting on the bunks playing cards. 3. 2-3 guys are sleeping, covered in blankets, with pillows. 4. One or two of the wood cupboards are opened up to reveal either tools or personal gear (clothing, boots, shoe polish, books, newspaper rolled up, etc). When at Battle Stations: 1. The racks/beds are folded up as is Stock version. 2. What about the cork insulation.. or asbestos on the pipes? |
Officer's Quarters Looking Aft

If not at Battle Stations: 1. 2-3 officers sleeping with blankets and pillows. 2. Where officers sleeping if at table, have table removed and in storage. 3. Have one table opened up with chessboard on it, papers, etc. 4. Have metal bucket with soapy water and a shirt or something, laundry. 5. Put door handles on the cabinets and inside make shelves. Have a door or two partially or fully open to reveal inside personal items, clothing, shoe polish, books, boots, etc. 6. Canvas bags hanging on hooks (dirty laundry). 7. Nazi Propaganda. 8. Pictures from home, girls, a house, Neushwanstien Castle, motorcycle... 9. A dynamic canvas curtain that moves when you walk through it, pushes to the side or can be clicked on to open/close to push it out of the way fully or not. When not at Battle Stations: 1. No one sleeping or laying in bunks. 2. Cabinet doors all closed up. 3. Bucket gone (put away). 4. Table collapsed down (items gone/put away). |
Sonar Room

1. Reduce size of car hubcap sized gauges to open up more wall space for additional items. 2. Make the desk lamp dynamic (clickable on/off) with light that spills down onto desk under it. 3. Add a flowing/fluid moving cord/wire from the headset on his head to where it plugs into the equipment. 4. Reference to previous picture showing where the dynamic canvas curtain would be sectioning off the officers quarters. 5. Note, the wording on the clipboard is upside down. |
Radio Room

1. Add Nazi Propaganda where possible. 2. Add shelf on upper left to add radio user manuals, code books, etc. 3. Finish off gauges and dials with needles or other gauge facing and labels. 4. Add storage under the table; boxes of food, equipment, ammunition... 5. Replace enigma device with photo realistic or better rendered item of same. 6. Make desk lamp functional, on/off with light beams. 7. Spice up the dials to give them some life/realism. 8. Make Record player clickable on/off, interactive. 9. Add desk items, paper trays, pencil cups, note pads, code books. |

1. Add bags of tools or supplies to the metal storage boxes. Replacement gauges, a few pipe wrenches, rags? 2. Bring the gauges to life a bit with labeling. 3. Did only U.S. Subs (on some) install ice cream machines? On a UBoat.. maybe a keg or two? :) 4. Again with the cork insulation on exterior wall surfaces and asbestos coating of pipes? |
Mid Command Room Looking Aft

1. Add Dynamic Food Stores throughout the entire ship. Cubby holes and open spaces can be filled with fresh fruit and other food stores when you head out on the mission. 1 week into mission all bananas are gone, 2 weeks into mission all other fruit is gone.. each week that passes more and more food items vanish. Refit and it resets to a full stock. 2. Add asbestos coating to only hot pipes. 3. Smooth out the angular edges to all pipes, gauges and flanges. 4. Add small Nazi propaganda sayings or symbols above every doorway. Everyone looks at these before they duck down and it's a good way to keep your sailors brainwashed.. um.. I mean motivated and focused. |

1. Maybe a cup of coffee on the table? 2. Give the guy a tattoo maybe? 3. Texture up the place a bit.. ripped seat fixed with duct tape? :) 4. Cork insulation on exterior walls. Side Note: Where does this big hatch go? Maintenance on Attack Periscope? It seems enormous for the size of the attack periscope. Not saying it's not correct/accurate, I just don't know. Maybe a secret passage to the batteries below for maintenance? ? |

1. 3D surface the items on the map. 2. Make lamp on/off clickable with lighting of desk appropriately. 3. Surface the dials and gauges. 4. Smooth the angular edges of pipes and gauges. 5. Placement of Helmsmen while surfaced? 6. Add torpedo selection, and fire buttons so manual control can be achieved like mods from SH4. |

1. I'm the Captain darn it.. I want a fluffy pillow. 2. Cabinet can be opened to reveal books. Each book brings up a PDF file on history about WWII and Subs, ship recognition data, even one on Subsim.com. :) 3. Light clickable on/off. 4. Add some bottles of beer. 5. Add some books. |
