That is why there are so many mods and why it's called a game. Play with it and decide what you like best!

But first, how experienced are you. I always recommend getting a career under you with no modifications to learn the basics of the game. It's hard enough to learn manual targeting without Ducimus' evil airplaines blowing the snot out of you while you're setting up a target!:rotfl:

Walmart Security: Department Store Battles of the Pacific, when I release it. Though it is nothing near realism nor probable. Maybe our Linux systems can fire as fast as the deck gun?!??!

I've heard that phrase so much I'm starting to think it's an actual mod of its own.

I often find myself wondering if i overdid it. :rotfl: The gist behind my plane adjustments was to make aircraft a threat again. Personaly, i found that with SD radar, planes were a total non factor in this game. Just dive, hang out at periscope depth, and then peer at him with impunity to see what type of plane he is, and how close he gets, often enough to where you could probably count the rivets in his wings as he flies over you, totally oblivious to your prescence. I thought, why have aircraft at all?

So i made them tougher to shoot down, loaded them up with a payload that detonates on contact or at shallow depths, and gave them the abiilty to detect the player while submerged if they get close enough to them. It has its quirks, but overall its a wonderful thing. Planes now are probably as dangerous to a fleet boat as they are to a uboat in the atlantic, which in my opinion, is how a plane should be to a submarine.... bloody dangerous! :rotfl:

I joke about them, but your evil airplanes are the single most important contribution to gameplay in the past six months. Only a fully destabilized deck gun could even come close to as much progression toward pushing the player to behave in a realistic manner. And isn't that the whole zeitgeist of Trigger Maru Overhauled: achieving historically justifiable player behavior through sometimes unrealistic (that means more challenging:yep:) game behavior? Intimidation works!

When I detect one of "your" planes, I crash dive to 100+.

No problem!

I agree with Gain here. I'm using TMO and when radar picks up a plane I just dive to 140 feet or so, wait 10 to 15 minutes and surface, no problem here. What I like is that with TMO, the planes occuring frequency has been toned down a bit, and not as constantly annoying. Ducimus, I think you have it right. They are more deadly, but fewer of them.

Now back to the thread issue here.....I believe Ducimus has been a little humble in his post, leaving out his own creation, TMO. As far as mods go I recommend TMO. Realism increased, but not to so much as to frustrate or bore you to death. Believe me, I am a simmer and love realism, but it needs to remain fun. After all, it is a game. I think Ducimus has realism and gameplay well balanced. I would not have continued to play this game without his work. Thanks Duci!

+1 for TMO..........

I have yet to play RFB, I'm waiting for the 1.5 version............

Tackling airplanes ain't worth it. The risk is high and the profit margin is slim.

I'll pick on the big flying boats though if I get a jones.

They stay still long enough to wack an engine.

I have been a TM fan since the first mod. I tried a recent RFB and really liked it, but when TMO came out I went to that. I have to say I guess it's my favorite, but it is well worth trying them both. I have added the three PE's and recommend them to. I've not tried RSRD yet.
