SH3 Growing in Popularity?

In the last two weeks there seems to have been an increase in Subsim lurkers and we had quite an influx of registred Kaleuns reporting in.

Wonder is the same thing is happening at the SH4 Forum. Are submarine sims growing?

Maybe the uboat addon for SH4 has produced a few more players for SH3

Certainly seems to be a crop of new players in the forums
Always good to see for both SH3 and Subsim itself

It's because of the SH4, the players who wants to be German Kaleun in Atlantic buys SH3, and when they get the GWX to make gaming exprience better. They tell about this to friends, and so on...

Also its because the GWX-is well known, even on the site of the gaming newspaper I order has the GWX as download on the Downloads section.

Pretty sure it's for the subscribers only. I cant see why Kipparikalle would want to order any other gaming magazine than "Pelit" and that site has downloads for subscribers only. ;)

It is a mix of both games from what I see. A lot are showing up in the SH4 forums. Probably for the Uboat add on or perhaps they blew the dust of the SH4 game that was buggy outta the box and put on the shelf. Who knows, there are numberous reason for the influx.

I too have noticed the increase in new members, which can only be a good thing.

I'll been away Eastern Front, but now I'm back Atlantiche Ozean

PS. Who remember this map --> Nr. 1870 G (Klein) Nord-Atlantischer Ozean ?

I use it when check grid, where Bdu sends me

Tip: It's quite old, comes with one subsim... :yep:

Taking a quick look at the numbers in the SH3 & 4 Forums, it appears they are both up somewhat lately. Nice to see :yep::up:

SH-3 GWX2.0 plays on lesser vid cards ?

That could be one reason.

To play SH4 modded or not at least a 7600gs NiVidia or equal ATI.

Sub sims very popular

Maybe if you look at whats been released in terms of computer games in the last two years or so, folks just got tired of being treated like little kids.

IMO there has been precious little released on any format that would excite anyone under 13 years. At the same time if you look at the drivel being dished up nighlty on TV, eventually the more imaginative or adventurous will just get bored and see if there's anything more intellectually stimulating than endless cop/hospital shows and so called Reality TV

Its numbers, eventually some of those folks will filter down to SH3 or 4 and they will get interested because they will find an incredibly friendly, supportive and informative little community with an eye for detail and a love of history and one of the most constructive and gutsy modding communities any where

When you add all that together why wouldnt you play SH3 or SH4

Just my two cents worth, thanks for a great community

Both cross promote each other. The fact that this is the one stop shop for mods and info explains why more people are making an appearance!:yep:

Playing SH4 with the addon with pent 2.4 / X800 pro graphics card / 1024mb ram , plays fine . I agree atm SH3 gwx2 is the best atlantic sim , but for how long ?

What did the average age of SH3 GWX players turn out to be according to the spot poll taken a while back? I'm sure it must have been about 35 - possibly older. If this is so, how does one account for a sudden surge of interest in subsim gaming amongst mature males?

How much publcity does this magnificent mod, GWX, actually receive? I first heard of it through Game Shadow, as I did "Real Total War", a superb "Rome Total War" mod devoted to historical accuracy.

As regards the Total War series, the Mediaeval Total War II engine has been modded by historical accuracy fans (Australians, I believe) to create "European Total War", wherein they have created, amongst others, the mammoth and bloody Schlagfest fought out at Boridino in 1812 between the self-styled Emperor of the French and the Imperial Russian Army.

This mod is a fantastic achievement and received publicity on Australian TV, so I am told. The problem is, that the numerous uniforms and minute historical details of the mod can cause the result to be very jerky when the fighting starts.

This is why I reckon that the GWX mod beats all super mods hands down: historical accuracy as far as is possible without necessitating big-horse computing power or forfeiting player enjoyment because of sluggish graphics.

And word has got round about this, hence, I believe, the recent upsurge in interest in this modified game.
