Kerry finally owns up to coments made

Well, seeing the political reprecusions after his speech at a college in California, it looks like Sen. Kerry backtracked from yesterday and appologized for his misquote of his own speech.

I agree that he should've just corrected himself from the get go, but because of his hard-headedness, he might've helped the Republican races a little..as evident by him withdrawing from helping on campaign stops for fellow Democrats.

Today's Hot Air Vent clip sops it all up.

I can't even imagine this guy in the White House. I'd go beg Gore to come back to replace him if he was about to be nominated.

I guess he's trying to get to the left of Howard Dean. It'd be funny if Kerry hadn't shown a pattern of disregard when it comes to defending this country.

I'm sure its all Bush/Rove fault and that Democratic candidates are running from him because it is just what they needed one week before an election.

Thank you John Kerry!

PS If it was a botched joke, someone show me the punch line.

WASHINGTON — Demands for Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry to apologize directly to U.S. troops for his "stuck in Iraq" comment crossed the political aisle into his own party Wednesday, adding fuel to the growing firestorm that has sent the senator into a self-imposed campaign exile.
North Carolina Democrats "absolutely disassociate ourselves from any criticism of our troops, misunderstood or otherwise," said state party chairman Jerry Meek.
Speaking to military families in New York, Sen. Hillary Clinton called Kerry's comments Monday "inappropriate."
"Whatever the intent, Senator Kerry was wrong to say what he said," Tennessee Democratic Senate hopeful Rep. Harold Ford Jr. said. "He needs to apologize to our troops"
Ford, who is locked in a heated battle with Republican Bob Corker, spoke as GOP candidates across the country called out their Democratic opponents, demanding that they take a public stand on Kerry's comments.
"Sen. Cantwell is Sen. Kerry's host in our state," reads a press release from Mike McGavick, the Republican challenger to incumbent Washington Sen. Maria Cantwell. "She has evaded comment time and time again in this campaign. Not this time. Sen. Cantwell owes Washington's veterans and soldiers an explanation. She has taken Sen. Kerry's money. Does she also accept his comments?"

Personnaly ive viewed the incident as one little piece of the overall ugly picture that is the elections. This is just one bit from one side, im sure theres more ugliness to follow.

Now, im not defending Kerry, if one was to ask me, id say he just needs to go away and disppear. he had his 15 mins of fame and needs to get the F' off the soapbox and just go away. But.... there is a degree of truth to what he said. It's an ugly truth, but the reality is, the military has lowered its standards to obtain more warm bodies to meet recruiting quota's.

At this point it would be convienent if John Kerry would 'go away and disappear'. because why would Democrates want to let US citizens know the truth of what every Democrate has in his/her heart.

From the Boston Herald.

The real shame is that while John Kerry stumps around the country, building up chits for his own possible presidential campaign rerun, he still has that D-Mass. after his name. And that’s an embarrassment to the good people of this state who sent him to the U.S. Senate.

Kerry & H. Clinton is what I consider the uglyness in Washington politics. WHen I imagine a politician stealing candy from a baby, they both come to mind. I'm a potential swing vote, but to tell you the truth, I couldn't stand to vote for either one of them so it is a good thing they are not in my state.

— 85.4 percent of field grade officers have advanced degrees; 70.7 percent have master’s degrees, 12.1 percent have professional degrees and 2.5 percent have doctorate degrees.

— 99.9 percent of the enlisted force have at least a high school education; 73.3 percent have some semester hours toward a college degree; 16.2 percent have an associate’s degree or equivalent semester hours; 4.7 percent have a bachelor’s degree; 0.7 percent have a master’s degree and .01 percent have a professional or doctorate degree.
And US troops in Iraq have sent a direct message to Kerry.

Article i linked was referring primarly to the army, not all the branches at once like your source seems to cite. So the view you present is skewed. Ultimatly its boots on the ground that win any conflict. Love the picture though, thats halarious. I miss the humor.

'I voted yes to the 87 million (to support the troops) before I voted no (to abandon the troops)'. Ultimately Kerry would abandon the people who protect our nation for his own political goals. Regardless of the educational make-up of the troops in Iraq John Kerry and his ilk will abandon them in a New York minute.

Our people at risk deserve better!
