So does this mean that you will need to put her litter box in the bathroom?:D |

Very nice Frau....many happy years and memories ahead :sunny:

Well, so far so good. They're both eating and drinking what I've put down and when I checked this morning someone had done a poo in the litter box so at least one of them has figured out that it's not just a box full of fun little bits of crunchy noisy stuff to bounce around and chase their own tails in. :yeah:
Sam came right out to see me when I opened the door but Carrot is still very shy and wary of everything until he gets distracted by some toy. He likes being petted but only when he's too busy playing (or too sleepy) to realize it's happening, lol. |
|
Finally got some nice weather and I'm off at the same time....
oh wait:-?... Time to fix stuff, clean stuff, unpack stuff... and I'm totally broke cuz I got to pay for the air ducts to be fixed.:dead: |

I suspect you of being a prime candidate for a kitteh mauling. |

Carrot will come around eventually. She's just timid. |

And Carrot's a "he," they're both male. We had some good bonding moments last night and this morning so I think in time he'll be less skittish in general. Gave them the run of the place when I got home yesterday which resulted in several hours of nonstop entertainment. They are going back to the mudroom when they need to go potty, altho I think sometimes they lose track of where they are in the new space and need a little nudge to find their way back. But they seem to know to go find the litter box instead of just letting loose anywhere. Lol found out last night that Carrot likes Top Gear, at least when they're showing someone doing a lap around the track. It was on the TV in the office where we were all playing and when they showed a car doing a lap he would catch sight of it and sit right in front of the TV and get real still and watch with that intensity cats have when they're fascinated by something and trying to figure out how and when to pounce on it. Aaaaand they both discovered the stairs last night, of course this happened right when I was getting ready to put them back in the mudroom and go to bed. I'm walking around trying to find them and can't figure out where they are and I look up the stairs and there's Sam sitting at the top and it turned out Carrot was already in the bedroom snooping around. Good thing I closed up all the other rooms just in case. This morning I let them in again and the first thing they did was run right up the stairs into the bedroom. Probably only a matter of time before I lose dibs on the bed. :O: |

You've already lost 'dibs' on the bed. They just have to figure out how to get onto it.:D:har: |
Congrats on the new additions. :yeah:
We aquired a 6 year old cat called Holly a couple of weeks ago from a friend, she moved house a year ago and since then Holly had been a bit nasty to the other cats in the house so after a long thinking process she asked for a good home. The first couple of days she wouldn't come out from behind the sofa but after that she's got braver as the days go on. She's asleep under out bed most of the day and comes alive at night - blooming tinkly bell and conkers on the wooden floor outside our bedroom (new carpet coming after the kitchen's been done). My little girl loves her to bits, Holly tolerates my little girl. http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/5868/rtsp.jpg I'd rather have a dog but am getting quite attached now. :hmph: |
The bell is removable.

I know but then we'd never find her in her myriad hiding places.

Tell me about it, I almost got little collars with bells on for the kittens but didn't. Now I wish I had because they can get themselves into the smallest, darkest spaces imaginable and if they don't want to be found it's very hard to locate them. I may go pick up a couple tonight and maybe a scratching post of some kind as well since they need one. So far they are just using the little throw rugs I've got scattered around which is fine, since those were left by the previous owner and I'd replace them eventually anyway. But it's only a matter of time before they start going to town on other things.
I've also realized that buying extra long sheer curtains so they would "pool" on the floor under the bedroom window was probably NOT the best idea, lol. The kittens, on the other hand, probably think it was the BEST IDEA EVER. :haha: |

She did cause me a bit of bother though, when she first arrived and finally came out from behind the sofa she disappeared - the only place I could imagine was down a small hole under the bath (panel was off after the flood). I could've swore I heard her bell in the walls and imagined needing a big hammer to get her out. Turns out she did go down that hole but used the inbetween space to go into our 'cupboard of death' - a long dark cupboard that runs along the lenght of our bedroom with a tiny door at one end, and surprisingly enough, a hole at the other in the floor. After numerous disappearing acts we also had a small hole appear in the ceiling of the porch - right underneath the hold in the bathroom floor! :/\\!! |
