First timer

Hey fellow Nazi Sub Mariners. Thought I'd say what a relief it is finally getting a video card able to run this game I've had for two years. Ships ahoy. I'm going to hopefully get the go ahead to download any minute now. Any suggestions of what mods not to get?:arrgh!:

Definitely true. An U-boat captain was even court martialed and sentenced to death for his anti-nazi feelings. His name was Oskar-Heinz Kusch, may he rest in peace.

Since when I knwew about him, he became my Silent Hunter alter ego. :)

My mistake

Hey, I know .I was feeling the love for a minute. All this excitement waiting for admin to enable my downloads is making me call everyone Nazi's.My poor cat is now a "Nazi Feline ". The noisy tenants upstairs "Nazi's" the landlord not doing anything about it "Nazi". The White Breasted Nuthatch chasing away the Chickadee, "Nazi".
How long usually for admin to press go? I sent an email with all pertinent info. Thank you for taking the time to respond?

:hmmm:, wondering how much longer.

Yes, I think quite many of them had no political passions in that direction. It can be seen also on the emblems: there were just a few with Nazi symbols. I read this story where one of the most famous and succesful U-boat aces, Reinhard "Teddy" Suhren was very uppset when he saw these (david's) stars weared by some and asked what it was for. Later in the bar (or where ever) two SS men came to ask if he could give them his autograph (he was famous already), but he told them to piss off.

He was difficult for his superiors (on many ways), but he was also very succesful and liked among hes crew. He had achieved knight's cross of the iron cross with oak leaves and swords by september 1942. :yep:

often if you where very successful they would let the little stuff pass even the occasional big item (as long as you weren't out right having an out right fatalist or anti-party attitude). the SS at the time could have beaten the S*&% out of him all because he told them to "piss off" but he was famous. the more unsuccessful you where the closer you where watched plain and simple. if you didn't follow orders but got alot of tonnage they would let it slide for the most part, the mission after all to sink as much tonnage as possible to strangle Brittan's supplies.

Old hand coming onboard again

Hello everybody! I am now pretty old and retired, but have been playing subsims a lot. I am living in Sweden, but have been working a lot in Germany, so I do run the subsims in german if possible.

I did start during "the older stoneage" with a primitive DOS-game called Gato. Then came Silent Hunter I and Microsoft´s "Aces of the Deep". The Aces I did play a lot.

Then came SH2, but I was disappointed. You did get a mission, for example to catch a convoy at a certain position. If you made any detour on the way out, then you did miss the convoy and the whole Atlantic was empty. This was the single convoy in the game. I did not play it much.

Then came SH3! This is a wonderfull game, especially with the Grey Wolves Expansion. I did play many hours and did get many advices in this forum.

Next came SH4. For some reason I did never feel at home in the game, and did not play it very much.

In 2010 I did buy SH5 and started to play, but other occupations came in between, so it was very few hours spent on the game. Now I have just returned to the game again, and is starting up to learn all the functions in it. Of course I will also use the information on this forum.
