Thanks for the update. My Bad. I was just reading about your updates on the forum, didn't actually install them. I was sort of waiting (still am) for you to finish all of the planned updates so I could start a new career without interruption. I know, my bad totally.
I can see now that the patrol descriptions are just fine, eveything is the way I imagined it to be. :)

Yeah I definitely didn't understand that it's the awards system you were talking about.
Well the thing that bothers me about the awards system is that it only takes into account the tonnage sunk in one patrol. It doesn't cumulate effort. In the stock version when you had to sing 500 000 t. No problem, but now one can barely earn a 1st class Iron Cross. So my vote is on the sink tonnage only with lower numbers. Does that make sense? :P

Great news about the grid map :D

That's all, sorry about the misunderstanding.

Off topic....Trevally....what Graphics Card Monitoring system do you use to be able to see temps in the upper left of the screen? I've got NVIDIA inspector...but I cant used that in Game like you have! Can you show other info besides Temps as well?? Thx

It's not a question of look. It is an issue of the way the engine demands tonnage, which there isn't anything that you can do about that. The game is pretty much set up to force the player to become an ace in the first two or three patrols. This is doable, both in the game and historically, but it doesn't feel right. It is hard to put into words. I certainly should not be seeing mission requirements where I must sink more than 50,000 tons. Historically, 50,000 tons was an achievement for anyone. If there were three or four areas that divvied up the 100,000 tons to become an Ace, I could accept that. Before I installed OH, I scrapped a career halfway through the second campaign because I saw no reason to continue because I had 3/4 of a million tons sunk. I want some semblance of realistic expectations. Knowing where the tonnage line is drawn is not so much an issue as it is the engine wanting me to be a "Shake-n-Bake Ace" by the end of my second patrol. :shifty:

I must be thick because I still do not know what you are saying:shifty:

Are you trying to say that the game is no good because you can sink to many ships:06:
You would rather have it where you would only very rarely meet and sink a target:06:

I see what he is saying....Historically....uboats didnt sink this much. I can see where it will get boring because its not simulating "how it was" per se. So you get to the point ...where you easily pass ALL of the Uboat Aces of WWII...very early on...then you're like...now what? Not everybody wants a turkey shoot....I guess in the end they want to be challenged and entertained at the same time. Kind of makes you feel like one boat verse all of the Allied Navy.

I dont know what the anwser is......less ships? less powerful weapons, more duds..... What realism do you play Schwab? more varible ship headings. Who knows...its hard to find a ballance....I love OHII so far...buts its early on...i'm sure it will get harder pretty quick!

Thanks Trevally for the MSI afterburner...will give it a shot.

That is the point!

To get the realism as it was in those years, one has to use settings in accordance with those facts...
Like: No contact Data on map, no contact reports, no contact tails, using real navigation,.....

....this makes it a lot more harder to reach the Objectives!

So when you had your 3/4 of a million tonnes, did you have these settings on:06:

When OHII was first made, the objective requirments were set very low (they still are for the most part) but soon so many users were finishing the whole objective in one patrol.
This caused lots of posts "what next".
So I have tried to strick a balance where the objective are a bit higher, but no as high as with the stock game.

Also this new version I am making (if I don't get fed up first - reaching that point fast:stare:) will remove any mention of tonnage or ship counts.
So if you are wanting a campaign where you meet very few ships and have no objectives - OHII is not for you. If you are just stating that the game is not very real - then I would agree but suggest you start a thread elswhere to discuss this

THE_MASK 06-22-12 04:19 AM

I use 100% game difficulty .
I use these mods for extra difficulty
IRAI = realistic ai
sobers see thru wake fix = no spotting wakes at night
sobers_realistic_underwater_FX2 = no looking at ships from under water
TDW_No_Hydrophone_On_Surface_1_1_0 = no hydrophone on the surface
OHII Higher Tonnage Objectives for v1.9 = higher tonnage objectives
sobers bad weather deck gun V1 SH5 = much more realistic deck gun

Good luck finishing the campaign with this setup .

Hi Trevally, i'm afraid this is a misunderstandig now ...I love your OH II (actually i'm waiting for the upcoming V. 2.0 before I continue) great work!

:yeah:

What I wanted to say is: With that (or similar) realism setting I discribed above (and your upcoming Version) OH II in combination with a few other great MOD's, is a very real(hard) to play SIMULATION ...as I like to do!

I'm not a 'duck hunting Player' who finished a Campaign/Objective in a few hours with all the helping stuff switched on...

Trevally,

I've had MSI Afterburner installed for several months now and generally it works fine. My only problem is that to save my life I can't get the selected parameters to show up in SH5 which I have running in Full Screen. The problem has been so pervasive that I've even been reduced to actually, God forbid, reading all the help info but it still doesn't appear on the screen. Happen to have a step-by-step gouge handy?

My thanks in advance.

EDIT: Also, I'm unable to get the screen option in the OPTIONS FILE which changes from full screen to windowed mode to change from one selection to the other. Anyone have any ideas?

Best to save in the bunker - exit game - install OHII - load bunker save.

You may see the odd glitch with objectives in that campaign, but when you progress to the next one - OHII will be fully installed and working:up:

Thank you!!!

Had to google this last night ..... and found a good video...can find it now :nope:. so here it goes..... Settings>Monitorin>Active hardware section monitoring graphic.... make sure each box is checked that you want....now here is the trick.....once you have checked what you want....highlight each line individually (turns gray)...the box "Show Onscreen Dispaly" near the bottom will now be able to be clicked....click it...and under properties next on the highlighted line should show "in OSD"....this means you are good to go.

For MSI - here are some shots of my settings that may help
I can't remember installing it, but check you also have the monitoring on

If you have antilag running - remove it as it will stop the monitoring:up:
