I just installed the mod, and realized bit too late that I also had the Harbour Traffic 1.45 mod AND only had the October (2005) release of Commander. As one might predict, that probably caused my first CTD. So, just asking for clearification now, in which order to do the whole thing:
Uninstall SH3 Commander.
Re-install (with or without UNinstall?) the GWX mod.
Use JSGM to install Traffic Mod.
Install Commander.
Update Commander with the 4 special files.
D...done?

bigboywooly 06-02-07 02:11 PM

Rollback SH3commander
Uninstall SH3commander then install the new 2.7 version plus cfg files and try again with a new career

If that doesnt work a new fresh install may be needed

You dont need the Traffic mod afterward
Probably isnt compatable with GWX anyway

And did you install GWX 1.03 as well ?

And yes, of course I installed GWX, that was why I was afraid compatibility issues were the problem. Or did you mean install in some other sense? I'll try this.

This is the error message that I am getting:
AppName: sh3.exe AppVer: 1.4.0.1 ModName: sh3sim.act
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0000de74
It seems to happen whenever a ship hits another with its guns. While of course very appreciative of all the hundreds, more likely thousands of hours put into GWX, I am quite bothered with how no mods (for any games) have the extremely fancy "Install" button which limits the install to that; the one click of a button, no matter what happened before. I think it is to do with the games themselves, but can't say for sure (since in OFP, mods were as easy to install as anything else).

It would be less painfull for you if you do a fresh install of SH3, patch it to v1.4 and then install GWX (and GWX patch 1.3). And then you can mod your game, ofcourse carefully (ie. it seems Harbor traffic mod isnt compatible with GWX). Im sure that GWX installed on fresh SH3 1.4b wont CTD...

I meant did you also install the 1.03 patch

If not that may cure your CTD when guns firing

I found this little gem a few minutes ago. It holds some very interesting footage, but what I am posting here for is the fact that the narrator said four hour watch for the men on the sail (in stormy conditions). I haven't yet made any kinds of calculations for fatigue in GWX 1.03, I just thought you might be interested.

Yep, which is why in GWX the watch crew on the bridge fatigues much more rapidly in a storm.

Read page 31-32 of the GWX manual for further details.:yep:

That being said... fatigue rates in GWX do not account for Bernard untying your hammock.

Tiny bit from page 31 of the GWX manual:

"The length of an historical U-boat crewmember’s watch ranged from four to eight hours depending on the duty watch position:

• The typical watch cycle for the bridge officer and lookouts was usually four hours on the bridge as lookouts; four hours performing maintenance and other duties; eight hours of Commander’s Time, and eight hours off duty.
• Radio operators, sound gear operators, torpedo room crews, helmsmen, and officers generally had eight hours on duty, eight hours of Commander’s Time, and eight hours off duty.
• The engine room crew had six hours on duty and six hours off duty, which resulted in more on-duty hours in a high-stress environment in return for serving no duty as exposed bridge lookouts

GWX version 1.03 is really something. After playing it for quite some time,I already can't imagine myself playing a stock Silent Hunter III.That impossible! That is just the same if you were reading a colourful glorious "Naval Encyclopedia" and were trying to read a black and white reference book after.:)

I would like to thank all GWX Development Team for a really awesome job done. And what I like most in GWX - is that it's obviously done with great love to Naval History.Just superb, amazing, breathtaking.:D

Fyi: A page on the manual has been started for GWX here:
http://www.mysh3.info/shiii/index.ph...lves_eXpansion

It needs alot of work, but there's alot of potential for a community effort :|\\

To good hunting!
