Yer a day late and a surmise short!:03: We'll know for sure when China moves on Taiwan...in a carefully crafted two-front assault on the so-called World Order. That actually began with the unopposed takeover of Tibet in the '50's. It's a repeat of 1939; with a Sino-Soviet Axis against increasingly resolute Allies all over again. Everybody's got nukes:yeah:...let's play and get this over with once and for all. At least a nuclear winter will resolve the global warming problem-if not the Covid Pandemic!?? :arrgh!:

Have the last few days been watching many hours* live stream from some of the biggest cities in Ukraine and nothing.

France freezes the rest of russian assets.

https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/fran...l-bank/2518444

"Widening the sanctions against those Russian billionaires close to the Kremlin, Le Maire informed that his ministry will identify their assets in France and seize them. "We are drawing the complete inventory of financial assets, real estate, yachts, luxury vehicles(...) We will equip ourselves with the legal means to seize all of these assets," he said."

Worldwide action on Russia's treasury:

Russian central bank shut down
Russia's huge gold and foreign exchange reserves are probably Putin's most important trump card, but now he has to worry about it. The West cuts the Russian central bank's access to assets - a historic act with devastating effects.

(And Germany must get its railtrack grid in order, and attached bridges. Its of utmost logistical relevance. Traffic networks and logistics are the real primary reason why the US forces still maintain presence in Germany. )

Just this time the Europeans have to shoulder much, much more of the military burdens. America cannot afford to focus on Europe anymore as it once has done. The priorities have shifted, from 1. Europoe, 2. Gulf, 3. China, to 1. China, 2. Gulf, 3. Europe.

Germany is crash-learning bitter lessons these days, and has started to no longer reject these lessons. Now Europe must do the same.

Yeah, wasn't there a recent American president who was forceful about NATO member states stepping up and budgeting their share of defense costs? :hmmm: Who was that guy?

Quote:

In 2014, NATO members agreed to target spending 2 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) on defense, although the contributions remain voluntary. In 2017, only the U.S., U.K., Greece, Poland and Estonia reached the 2 percent target.

The U.S. represented a 71.1 percent share of the alliance’s combined defense expenditure.

re: Russia's central Bank.

The Gold is safe because most/all of it is physically in Russia, but it cannot be sold quickly.

The problem is that a lot of the foreign reserves, Euros and U.S. Dollars are held in or owed by Western Banks. Those are now frozen and cannot be used to buy Rubles and prop up its value.

Very effective short term, but the long term effect will be that both Russia and China will try to switch to the Chinese Renminbi and away from Euros/Dollars.
