I was really looking forward to SHV until I learned about the always-on Internet connection requirement. Not only do I hate the idea of having to sign up with Ubisoft and be constantly connected to their server to play the game, but I will be deployed with the Navy next month and will have no Internet access!

So, obviously, there's no point in me buying the game. Ironic, isn't it? A sailor can't play Ubisoft's sub sim.

Hey, Ubisoft: I understand you wanna stop software piracy -- I'm all for that -- but this level of DRM is going too far.

No SHV for my laptop if Ubisoft sticks with this DRM.

Is this the list of people who will not be buying SH5 and not discussing it here in 6 weeks? :O: Just askin....

Okay, if I insist on standing by what I call 'principles', I guess it's time to pony up.

I have announced I won't be buying or playing it while this measure is in place, I guess I should back up the words with deeds.

Until the state of affairs changes to one in which I can play the game, I won't be talking about it anymore either. I'll still check in, maybe to defend my position if need be, but mostly I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places.

Are you implying that you would prefer those of us in this list not discuss any aspect of the game here... at least until we buy it? Just askin' back. ;) :) (no tongue action for you! :D )

this DRM thing is a little crass.
if I move out and don't have internet for a couple months, I'll probably be jonesing for some SHV and I can't play a game I bought at the store with no internet?

if they are going to DRM it, just distribute it online. don't sell hard copies on a leash.

1. A single player game that you have to be online continuously to play.

2. They keep your save games.

3. You can never resell said game as it would be unuseable by anyone else - so in effect you actually don't own it, despite having spent money to "buy" it.

Have bought a lot of Ubi games in the past (Splinter Cell, SH, ...) but if Ubi keeps that **** DRM, they will lose me as customer.
