About textures I noticed that while the boat reflects properly on water, the lights have no effect on the hull, I didn't notice so far but exiting from the illuminated pens of Kiel at night makes it obvious and kinda odd. Not the best shot to show it but it should do :

@Albrecht, thanks, I didn't notice that one when testing, should be a 10-seconds fix :hmm:

About the boat, I think I finally got rid of a self enabled bug ( :damn: ) with the damage model (not present in the first beta). Also night helped me to figure a way to add the waving flag. I'll give it a try now, could be a nice eye-candy touch despite the current model. Also I'll see to add the emblem thingy that I had overlooked in first place (also should be straight forward).
And hopefully some other neat stuff coming soon :hmm:

PS : I hope that no fool mistake will keep me out of multiplayer for testing tonight :nope:

Cheers

No, what I want to do is repaint the hull and decks.

When I loaded it in the .DAT it said "import failed: wrong color depth (24 bits)"

CCIP 02-06-08 03:16 PM

I just saw this.

:o:o:o:o

You do realize I'm quite a big fan of S-boot tactics.

getting. VERY quicky.

(I don't know why I missed news of this in the last couple of days, anyway)

You can also try with the "stock" GWX texture, they are in sh3/data/sea/npt_ge/. The hull textures are in the folder and the deck texture is in the .dat.
Sorry I have no other idea :-?

I am using DatTexExtract by Ubisoft.

Here's a S-100 picture that would be up to par I think, I'll post it in .tga and .jpg.

It would be nice if eventually some S-Boote were outfitted with depth charges, but that would necessitate enemy AI subs.

miner1436 02-06-08 04:32 PM

Pack3D imported it, thanks a bunch.

More kills to report:

Heavy damage to a Polish DD (sent her back to slow speed!) second torp missed:damn:
Light freightor-2000 some tons; guns only
tramp steamer-around 2000 tons 1 torp.+guns

the 40mm is actually proving to be a very effective merchant ship killer in the early war...

CCIP, you have got to play these things! :D :yep: :yep:

Mikhayl and I just played another MP game. It was insane! LOL! At 40 knots don't look in the command room. You will start heaving!

This was an absolutely awesome MP mission with Mikhayl's S-boots. You gotta join us one day!

When's the next MP run? I'm dallying in Second Life right now (made me a full size Type 34 DD ), but I really wanna jump in and see how good I am with an S-Boot.

I can run another now if you, or anyone else, wants. All you need is a clean install of GWX and no other mods enabled except Mikhayl's s-boot 0.1 and generic cam mods.

I'll set it up at 1740 Eastern time.

Does anyone know what the S boot hulls were made of? Wood or iron?

miner1436 02-06-08 05:17 PM

Found this from wikipedia it seems the S-100 class had 3 shafts.
Engines: Three 20-cylinder 2000 hp Daimler Banz MB501 diesels driving three shafts.

USS Sea Tiger 02-06-08 05:23 PM

Made of wood

there was a metal frame, but the hull was plywood like ours, with some areas armored.

also as for the lookout,, it is very very rare to see the starboard side aft lookout in his position, the port lookout stayed there though even if under fire

Heh, well that gives me ten minutes to figure out how to do a second install of SHIII...never had multiple copies on the same system, how do I go about making a new install??

You need a "clean" sh3 installed from the disc, then you just copy/paste the whole SH3 folder and name the copy as you wish.
When you're done, you need to place multish3 http://files.filefront.com/MultiSH3z.../fileinfo.html in the new sh3 folder, run it and choose a "savegame" folder. Then you're ready to go

Ummm, once you have a secondary clean install of SHIII, you'll also have to run the GWX install on it, too.

Otherwise, if you already have GWX, just roll back SH3Commander (if you use that) then uninstall every mod you've added. That will revert your GWX/SHIII files to 'clean'. Then just create a second folder (for instance, I have /Ubisoft/GWX and /Ubisoft/GWX MP) and copy all the files in the original GWX folder to the new folder.

That will give you two folders, one you can use for your usual GWX play and a secondary just for MP games. Don't forget, if you want to play with the S-boots you'll then have to add the two necessary mods to the multiplayer GWX installation.

Heh, I uninstalled my old copy of SH3 cause I probably screwed up the GWX install so this will save me some headaches later.

CCIP 02-06-08 06:29 PM

Running a career - so far no problems, even got it successfully added to the med :)

The only problem, I guess, is incompatibility with SH3 commander

Oh, one nitpick about the model - looking from the bridge view, some of the railings on the aft of the boat are invisible or floating in the air. I guess it's cause the model is meant to be viewed from the outside originally.

Albrecht Von Hesse 02-06-08 06:48 PM

I tried to PM you CCIP but your box is full. Mikhayl and I are playing some MP missions with the S-boots. Want to join? It's awesome with two, and the more we get it should get even more insane! :p
