Now that is timeless. Lots of people can do sarcasm, but AVG is AVG because he goes the extra mile.

Patch 1.4...for me the only things in it should be natural looking sea, lesser planes and(here comes the reason why i didn't play sh4 since weeks now!)...starting positions closer to nip-land.
(i am already bored before reaching the danger zone:dead: :dead: and don't start about time comp. it falls back to 1 each time a blind jap pilot crosses your path at a few miles from your location(up to 20 times after each other))

so for the moment i'm bored...

The issue of there being a patch 1.4 is not what is important to me - it's whether such a patch actually fixes what I consider to be the biggest realism issues.

Based on the first 3, I'm not expecting much (and I still don't play SHIV any more, SHIII being miles ahead in realism).

I'd be delighted to be proven wrong, however!

Come on you must be playing SH3 modded mate, SH3 stock was also miles behind in realism, miles and miles behind.

Of course I am. But those mods were available BEFORE SHIV was released. They could have used them in SHIV and it would've been much better. A simple example: visual detection ranges. I never bothered to try to do surface attacks in SHIV after it became apparent I would always be spotted. In NYGM I do surface attacks all the time. That just makes SHIV look shoddy. I could name plenty of other things, too.

Either way it hardly matters. As things stand, SHIII offers a far superior experience FOR ME....emphasis on the "for me"! If Patch 1.4 can address my list of major "realism killers" then I'm happy to give it another try. If others are having a blast with SHIV as it is, then I am genuinely very happy for them - NO sarcasm, I want all members of our family to be having as much subsim fun as they can!

Exactly ! Without patch 1.4 addressing existing bugs.Example: No crew slots when installing deck gun Fwd.ect.SHIV,might as well be flushed. The modding community keeps waiting to see a foundation unchanging to build on.Auto saves,do not overwrite equipment upgrades correctly,There is talk of memory leaks as large as 3 gigs. Will all this be resolved,OR are we just sucking hind-tit,waiting ?? SHIV,has a dim future if it gets no attention to the original game install working as intended.
People in the know, keep hinting/teasing about 1.4,to try to keep the ship afloat. So much ado for eye candy improvements, can you play a game that is SNAFU,& yes the game is somewhat playable,if you want to overlook buggy ops.W/file edits/work arounds, to make the game work as intended. Shut my mouth.SOB!

Reece 10-14-07 08:14 PM

Well SHIV is still on the shelf (never played since purchase on its release date) but I'm still hoping for a patch to resolve the many issues otherwise I wouldn't be here!:yep:
Now where is Ducimus with his negative though truthfull remarks!

Edit: Just found out that Ducimus is in the brig so I guess I won't hear from him for a while!!

Uber Gruber 10-15-07 07:54 AM

Not again....why is he in the brig?!! Too many people passing by the brig these days, must be those new "Freedom" rules the pres brought in for our protection.

Bilge_Rat 10-15-07 08:07 AM

so is there a 1.4 patch coming or is this pure speculation, I have been popping in here everyday to see if the patch is out and I still don't know if it is just wishful thinking.

On a positive note, I just upgraded my computer and reinstalled SH 4 after a few months layoff. With patch 1.3, vanilla game, it is still a very enjoyable and beautiful simulation.

TDK1044 10-15-07 08:15 AM

Yes 1.4 is coming.
