So far I am impressed with what I am seeing in the screenies posted... I am rather starting to drool as well!!! :sunny: ... except for the fact that the map measurements are in KILOMETERS!!!! Booooo Booooo!!!! US nautical maps are NOT in kilometers... and I am pretty certain they weren't in WWII either!!!! :damn:

Oh well... rather minor... but kind of irritating...

Be that as it may, my point was that the debate was 13 meters vs. 13 feet. Imperial versus Metric units. An apparent bug in the sim. 13 'meters' is the figure in the text box as reported by the crew. You then threw out the figure 15? feet, which I hope you will allow me "muddied the waters" somewhat.:yep: (pun intended). For this, I administered a well-deserved ribbing, (in good humor, I might add) as your post does seem to suggest that you can tell the difference between 13' and 15' even though that was clearly (another pun) not your intent.

All the same, I'll be sure to check with you next time before "enlightening anyone with my comments". :shifty:

A thick skin goes a long way on these fora.

If you did read the discussion then you must have seen that I was responding to this post.

I was using his 5 meter analogy in my response and rounded to 15 feet to keep it simple. The point being that the depth appeared to be closer to 13 feet than 13 meters. As far as the thick skin: It seems there are a handful of folks that just scan a few lines of a post looking for flaws or imperfections just to slam somebody. Not to suggest that you would do this. As you have so gracefully pointed out, in the future I will be sure to post in the "proper" thread "units of depth measurement".

Good one, flint:rotfl:.

castorp345 03-20-07 07:12 AM

interestingly, while everything else is in metric, the main depth gauges in the control room (in the s-class at least, haven't really checked the others) are in imperial and are functional...

They fought their way thru the flames and smoke, struggled to climb aboard the lifeboat, lower it to the water with bullets flying everywhere and their own ship´s wake flips them over and they drown.... Priceless. For everything else, there´s Mastercard.

I'm with you, Payoff - truth be told, I was just giving you a hard time. I hope there are no hard feelings. I am in complete agreement BTW, that the units seem to be the problem. I think these subs would report depth under keel, (actual water depth minus draft of vessel) as opposed to actual water depth.

Back to screenies - WOW! :D I'm dying to get my copy! Keep 'em coming fellas. The 'appetizers' are much appreciated.

I too am unhappy seeing all those meters instead of feet. I also notice that once again the deck gun has AP shells. Even destroyers didn't carry Armor Piercing shells.
