We also spelled "spelt" wrong. So there.

When I was in the Navy they explained to us that the British drive on the left side of the road because in days of old when swords were the main weapon it was a good idea to have a potential opponent on your right in case things got nasty.

We were also told that Americans drive on the right specifically because the Brits drive on the left.

Like the old journalism thumbrule, "Dog bites man is not news, man bites dog IS news". When a politician tells the unvarnished truth or comes up with a practical solution for a real problem that would be news, otherwise it's BS as usual.
