That's a great site CH. Rockin Robbins pointed it out to me. Some of the work the guys post on their current projects is incredible. If get a chance to look over the site it might inspire you to make another boat! The one in this thread looks great! I have my eye on a shrimping boat after I complete my Lake Union.

:D

I think that my next project will be a double prop. Any ideas?

Mine is a double prop. Lake Union Dream Boat. I found the bulkheads design on the internet and went from there. I assemble the odd bits as I go along. I just ordered the rudders/stuffing box/port windows this week. Next week I will get the two motors/ESC/battery.

Dumas is a large manufacture of boats to build. Here are some links you will like:

I have spoken to Frank a few times. Great guy and has the answers to what you have questions for. I purchased a lot of running gear from here.

I ordered my two drive shafts and stuffing box here.

I'm thinking of this one next or a steam launch:

Search the net for model boat plans. This is what I did. Printed the plans and enlarged them on a printer to a 1:12 ration. My boat is 34 inches long. I then got a bunch of pictures of the Lake Union. It's coming along nicely.

Yep, going to make a steam launch on my next one. Found the steam engine. Boat will be 24 inches long. The plans are in German but the line drawings are not! :DL

Expensive hobby....

I favor the woody boats such as Cris Craft and the Lake Union I'm making now. Steamboat launch with working steam engine will be next.

I would say that this scratch built boat I'm working on now will cost close to $1,000.00 from start to finish. Worth it to me though. I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Plus, when I was a kid lack of knowledge and finance to do such things put a damper on this hobby. Now that I can afford and have the knowledge to do so it's great. :DL

My kids are still amazed that a stack of balsa and bass wood now is a hull for a Lake Union Dream Boat.
