Just noticed that it's possible to use deck gun on the periscope depth.
Gunners didn't get inside the boat on dive and shot off enemies from 14m depth :arrgh!: That's the new feature UBI wrote about? |
Now i'm wondering why UbI delayed the patch release......Who oh why.....

Ok im home now, and am still not seeing any further words on mods working or not.
So, the only one I really dont want to live without at the momment being the no damn halo/no bubbles mod has anyone any info on it's compatibility so far? |

I am actually going to post a negative.
This patch is a step backwards. 1) the "compass" they gave us is absolute trash. I wanted a 360 dial, not a ribbon. 2) They still did not address the engine sounds that do not change in pitch, but do change in volume when power settings are changed. 3) the watch crew are still stupid and look out with no binoculars, and the stupid WO stands by the friggin Uzo. 4) the manual rudder control still sucks. It is not like me to jump on the band wagon of negative nellies, but I think I need to. This patch is a severe let down. Ubi. Get your heads out of your asses, and listen to the forums. This is not what many wanted. Why did you change the dials in the manner you did. Why did you change the way the engine sounds work? Why did you allow the watch crew to be so stupid? What the hell Ubi, are we pc gamers just not your cup of tea anymore. If so then sell the franchise of silent hunter to people that will give the title a good face lift off of what you started. The full interior of the sub is really awsome, but the changes you made to the basic game suck. |
A Thrilling Encounter Thanks to 1.2
I attacked a convoy in '39 using the stock SH5 patched to 1.2. It was a night surface attack. I wasn't expecting destroyers. It was a very dark night.
I torpedoed one merchant then took aim at a second. I got one fish off when I realized that someone was firing at me. I dropped down the hatch and ordered periscope depth. Before we could submerge we took shell hit in the control area causing flooding. Prior to 1.2, I had seen interior flooding, with the water rising. Always before I'd see water rising then seconds later the sub was lost. I'd never seen it be a controlled rise over time. Until now. The water was rising in the control room. 15% flooding, 25%... 35%... then about 50%... then... flooding was controlled... and then the water slowly was pumped out. What made this thrilling - even frighting - wasn't the fact that the command room flooded - I had seen that before - but that it was a very controlled and steady flood... much as I would imagine the real thing might be. It was very exciting, much more than in SH3 or SH4 where the flooding is illustrated on a damage board. It was thrilling! Rick |

A Disappointment Thanks to 1.2 - Sometimes Freezes Audio Related
I started with a fresh install before patching to 1.2. I installed it on Win Xp SP 3. I have a tried and true Nvidia 285 and a creative labs sound card. A believe it is called Fatal1ty. I have a E8500 that is not overclocked. My system is rock steady.
1.15 had its share of bugs, but I never saw it freeze when I clicked on a crew members dialog choice. After 1.2, and after playing 2-3 hours, on 3 occasions the game froze after clicking on a dialog choice in a characters "bubble". Twice was with "Number 1" and once was with the chief of the boat. When it froze, Windows debugger kicked on. Nothing more could be done with the game except call up task manager and shut it down. I am saving the game more to compensate, but wish I did not have to. |
25th Sept 1939 off the east coast of England at 03:30am , 2 planes fly over and about 20mins later come back over and this happened about 4 times.
Did they do night flights that early in the war ? Got map contacts on - through the pscope and looking at the map I have the Red Boxes - I Lock On to one of them and when I look at the map the Red Boxes are gone zooming in you usually get the outline of the ship but nothing only thing is the Dark Area (visual range) and the 1 2 3 Get a Hand Icon on Rudder Dial in control room but does nothing, to the side of that where a crew man sits facing the wall the Hand Icon appears and I can Close and Open the Hatch between Control Room and The Radio - Sonar Room. Still get the Watch calling out Smoke On The Horizon but when you look to where they call out there's nothing , to double check I dive down to Pscope Depth and there's nothing on the Sonar. ps... On Co2 , I noticed that it goes up by 1% about every 30-40mins , what is the danger level ? that means I should surface .. |
