WWIIOL. Was flying Messerschmitt to act as aerial recon for the Kriegsmarine as they launched attack on some town on the northern sector. 30min or so later, I noticed Hurricane on my 6, so I turned to meet him and we passed eachother. We fought for 15 minutes with me being on his tail 90% of that, peppering his plane with my MG and hitting him A LOT. Finally, he gave up after he started to smoke a bit and decided to crashland, being the gent I am (:O:) I flew over him and wiggled my wings at him for a good fight.
When I get back to base, I remember why I HATE, HATE the airwar part of WWIIOL; I got no kill off him. :damn: |
Well... you're a nice guy and that's why you gain 10+ Paragon, Dowly. :haha:

Allibans just need to plink you with one of their lazer bullets and it's headshot (especially in 110, 95% of my deaths in it has been one burst headshots :nope:). Ah well, back to groundpounding. :yep: |
Napoleon: Total War. Mod: Europe In Conflict.
Big battle, with me taking moderately heavy casualties due to large number of Danish artillery. Managed to wipe them out with my light dragoons, but not before the infantry had taken a beating. Battlefield was flat with no hills or rise of land whatsoever (Denmark is a very flat country and I must applaud CA's notice to this fact: pretty much every battle I've had in Denmark has been on flat terrain). Danish infantry was mostly line regiments and one or two grenadiers. Heaviest fighting on my left flank. Was a war of attrition until their artillery was gone. Then the battle was mine. Ordered some units to flank the Danes, rearanged my infantry, brought in support from my right flank which saw little to none action. Time left in the timer was about 5-10 minutes. After setting the last needed orders for the foreseeable future I thought I could take my time to take some nice pics to put up here. Pressed Escape to get the menu, and then to go to "User Interface" to turn everything off, so I could get some nice looking pictures. But, my hand twitched an inch so I instead pressed "Quit Battle". "Close Defeat". Went back to Campaign Map. Army destroyed (including a 4 Star General) except 3-4 decimated units. http://www.michaelaquinn.com/wp-cont.../05/fffuuu.gif |
Ah yes, Total war games. Got one 'Close Defeat' story to tell too.
I'm currently playing RTW:EB as the Greeks and had just gotten my Spartans (Yeh, I watched '300' few days back, sue me :O:) back from the front for some rest when the stinking Epeiros (sp?) decided to come after the same town my troops were in. After consulting my strategic advisor, Arclight, I decided to go and meet them with the 600-700 Spartans I had. I was against full stack + 1/3 stack, ~1300-1400 troops, but had a great position on a hill... just one thing.. they didn't attack as I attacked them on the map. :damn: I made a wedge formation and started to march my troops towards their lines in hopes to lure them to attack me, which didn't work. After moving my troops back and forth for 10 minutes and still no attack, I decided to go for a wide line and just rush their formation. The enemy was exhausted as they had followed my movement the past 10 minutes, going back and forth to keep their distance. My Spartans were in top shape and quickly broke the first line of infantry the enemy had, mainly skirmishers and hoplites. The 2nd line was still holding it's position after I was done with the 1st, so I went straight at them. They were mostly phalanxes which surprised me to see how quickly I broke their lines. I surrounded the general's unit and slay him and started to pursue the remainder enemies that were scattered around. Sweet victory... it would have been, except the timer ran out; CLOSE DEFEAT FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- :damn::damn: |
Red Dead Redemption
I'm out in Trall tree's gathering flowers for the Survivalist challenge. I get the last one I need from the area and start heading south towards Armadillo to gather the flowers I need there. I hear gunshots nearby, so naturally I go and see what the commotion is. I come upon a man shooting at some birds. He offers a wager of 50 dollars that I can't kill 4 birds in the allotted time. Piece of cake, I easily shoot down two birds, but because they seemed to be directly over me, I have to back away a little bit to get a better shot. All of the sudden I hear a loud roar, and I'm swiped by a bear. Before I can do anything, he walks away, while my screen goes black and the words You Are Dead torment me. :stare: Also, the other day I'm playing bioshock 2 and I'm near the end. I'm just about to free Eleanor Lamb when my screen along with my room goes black. And I'm bathed in darkness for about a minute. The stupid power had gone out. Luckily I had gone through a door about 5 minutes prior that had an auto save on it, or I would of lost nearly 2 hours worth of work. |
So Instead of getting the last flowers I need, I decided to hunt some Elk while in Tall Trees. I'm roaming around when I hear some gunshots(seems like I need to stop investigating) and I come upon two police officers chasing a criminal. I decide to help by shooting the guy in the back. The only problem is one of the officers runs in front of me, so Marston puts the gun to the back of the head and pulls the trigger. -100 Honor, I kill the criminal, and the other law man is still shooting at me, so I gun him down too, another -100 honor. And a bounty. :haha:

Can't you just say plants? The image of cowboys picking flowers is starting to bother me. :-?

Another moment in Red Dead, I'm in Armadillo when I see a wanted poster for the guy that I need to kill/Capture to get the Deadly Assassin outfit. I walk over and accept the bounty. I hear screams nearby and see some guy with a knife standing over a hooker trying to kill her. So I pull out my pistol and put a hole through the guy. Normally this is a good act, but for some reason I get a Wanted status, and a Bounty of $2 dollars on my head. All of the local law enforcement starts shooting at me, so I make a run on my horse towards my bounty target, losing most of them. Except for the ass hat law man who gives chase on horse, and continues firing at me. So I dismount my horse, run up to him and bribe him to leave me alone. Which gives me -400 Honor. If I had killed him I would of kept my 2 dollars and only lost -100 Honor. :haha: |
Playing Theatre of War 2: Africa:
I start the first mission in the American campaign where you need to hold a battle line from invading German forces. The left side is AI controlled, the right side belongs to me. I hold the enemies until reinforcements arrive with only a couple of losses. The German's don't even get near my line and only breached the left side twice. Since I'm new to the game I think I won the mission and exit out. Odd... the next mission isn't available. Apparently I still had to hold the line. :dead: So I load the mission back up and try again. I lose a tank early, and have a handful of casualties, but still seem to be holding the enemy off just about the time that I can call reinforcements in. Then the left line breaks, and the troops start panicking and retreating on that side. Shortly afterwords my side of the line breaks. :damn: |
While playing CTF in Halo 3 earlier (just shut up! :O:), 2-0 in their favor, every push being repelled etc etc, I finally got my hands on their flag... just in time for them to score again and win.

How utterly screwed up the metagame is now in Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II, especially if you play Eldar against Orks. It's probably the only thing in my nearly 20 years of gaming that has made me yell at my monitor over how completely bs a game can get.

Back in the day was playing PC version of final fantasy 7. Went into the final dungeon without being fully beefed up. Final boss gave me a heck of a time. After many many attempts I finally beat him and the PC locks up.
