So people are not allowed to protest after an election? I mean this is a basic democratic right.
And of course there is an effect, showing the government that people are not content with what it is doing, especially when it does not live up to expectations, or promises made. There is nothing to say against such demonstrations, as long as they do not harm people or destroy property of course.

A peaceful protest that got way out of hand, and nowhere near as destructive as the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest 4 years prior in Seattle.

If you really examine what Trump is trying to do. It actually makes some sense in a degree. They are imposing big import tariffs on almost all countries. some with even 30%.

Trump knows this will have a short pain for American consumers and economy. But those tariffs will be temporary. (he also did this to force deals with other countries)

In the meanwhile, its short, but the US will get lots of incoming money from it.
I guess with that amount of money they receive, it will act as a financial buffer? What i mean with buffer. This gives the American companies time and some guarantee to focus on doing there business on US soil itself. Giving a boost to local American economy, creating jobs? The money they get from the temporary import tariffs will open the way to lower the taxes on the American companies?

So making room for a better expansion of American business for US citizens? Being less dependent of foreign trade?
Maybe US citizens will pay less taxes on the long term.

During the short term. Foreign goods will cost a lot for US citizens.

But how so? Comparative trade works, tarriffs never did. It will be very costly for the US, and it will only go back to a more normal stage when the tarriffs are being drawn back, if ever. The worldwide shockwaves have already destroyed trust and trillions of dollars, and neither will recover quickly :hmmm:
