Well, this is a bit off topic, but I don't think it is enough to open a new thread.

I'm into a new repaint, but it's not a Mediterranean one, but for the Pacific theatre, The Atlanta-class cruiser USS San Diego:

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/38/sandiego7fb.jpg

I saw a model online and loved these blueish colours :sunny: .

And in another direction, I've removed turret number 3 from the Fiji model, and I'd love to be able to change it for another 4in turret to make a Swiftsure-class cruiser or a late Fiji, but I think I'll need assistance because my hex-editing is too basic.

Both are WIP, and I'm not sure when they will be finished (in the Swiftsure model I'm not even sure if it will ever be finished :-? ), but as soon as they are I'll post a link :yep: .

No problem at all! Reminds me I should post my M-Boot here too.

Erhm.....been away for a while, where can I download some of these wonderful ships? When I try the minensuchboote I get a janus screenblanker  In my opinion this game needs some more playable German ships

GlowwormGuy 08-08-06 02:28 AM

Yikes!

Hi Werewolf!

Yeah that's the problem with R@pidsh@re it deletes stuff after 90 days or so. Give me till the weekend I'll reup the Minensuchboote. And yeah, this game needs more ships!

Sorry for replying so late, usually I get a message when somebody is replying in the threads that I follow, but I gorgot that I have changed my e-mail adress during this year :rotfl:

@Glowworm: Thank you :D And by the way, I have gone through all of this post and seen that the excellent gabbiano was repainted as a German torpedoboot, what happened to that one?

@Simone: WOW!!!!!! that looks beautiful! is that all a part of the mare nostrum mod? A lot of things have happened while I was away.....good things :D :yep:

GlowwormGuy 08-16-06 04:55 AM

Pardon the delay

Wow! Those look great... and a Capitaine Romani too? I'm looking forward to seeing that quite eagerly...

And Werewolf...

Since floppies went out of fashion it's been very hard to transfer files. My computer at home isn't connected to the net so everything must go in a roundabout fashion - coming in via burned CD and going out either by CD or by floppy. I'm backing up my files and I'll bring the CD to a place I can upload the Minensuchboote.

Yeah I decided to use the Gabbiano as the spunky little Vorpostenboote in as much as our brilliant Italian bretheren of the sea have made a greatly superior model. A shame to let a model go to waste. I haven't repainted it though and I've been terribly busy at work to get into repainting it. Ah, if only the stack could be made longer and thinner... there really should be a generic 'trawler' model.

What I'll do is post it to zshare (hopefully my zshare files are still up?) and y'all can download them.

Thanks for the encouragement Werewolf!

 I see the problem, glad to see I am not the only one

Indeed it is! :yep: And all of the models they have made are superior, I wish that all of you had been behind DC from the beginning! :arrgh!:

Thanks, that sounds great :D
And regarding the encouragement, certainly no need to thank, on the contrary it is the other way round :)

I have a question for all of you in here by the way. The observation view, how the devil does one alter that? I remember that Sergbuto, for example, made a lot of changes on the obs.view. There are so many German vessels that could be perfect if only the obs. view could be changed so that one is not standing in the middle of the super structure......or hanging in free air for that matter :damn: . And all of the remodelling for example removing a funnel and so on, how is it done? What program? I have made many experiments, but they've all failed :88)

Werewolf 08-16-06 12:57 PM

Erhm.....sorry if this question fall out of the topic in here, but there seems to be more "life" here

Does anybody know of a link to a page with some information about ASW tactics and especially on how to calculate a drop on a DC run? There has been so much focus on manual torpedo use in both SH 2 and 3, but nobody has thought about how to make a "manual torpedo run". When focused on the escort part of destroyer command it can be a really challenging game actually :)

GlowwormGuy 08-19-06 09:40 PM

A long time ago, there was a website owned by Hondo where you could find tutorials about SH1 and which was later expanded to DC. There were some good pages about screen tactics, but they were not specific for DC; Instead it was an account of the real life escort tactics.

There was also someone who did a LOOOOONG time a go a small tutorial-explanation on how to do manual torpedo attacks with DC, and posted it all in a topic in this forum. I don't know if it got lost in the servers move, possibly it did. Pity I did not save a copy

Glowwormguy,
I tried to download your early british norwhal class submarine to see if I could make it work with Pacific Aces but it's no longer there? I think this would work considering I once took a sub from Alfa Tau & made it work with C. B. Med. Campaign?
thank you
Roy

Hi there Roy,

You may have to enlighten me a bit... I'm afraid I'm not sure about w/c sub you refer to (it has been, I confess, quite a while since I messed with subs). Is it the prewar minelayer sub class w/c included the Seal? Better yet could you let me know which page it's linked to?

Hope I can help!

Sorry for the late answer, I had to cut down my signature because it was too big before I could post any further.

Hmm, thanks I will see if I can find this Hondo:)

Thanks for the links :D :arrgh!:

Ah I think I know what you're looking for

Yup, found them - River and Narwhal, using the same model. Will upload as soon as I can (which is getting more dicey as my mom's office just blocked this site because it contains 'games' - sheesh!)

Just watch this space! :arrgh!:
