Jim likes old Germans, eh? How about SMS Wurttemberg of the 1878 Saschen class, with her four funnels...in a square!?

HMCS Charlottetown, Halifax class frigate, named after the city I live near.

Recently returned from NATO duty in the Med and Arabian Sea. 247 days at sea, one of the longest deployments in recent Canadian naval history.

That is the first ship I have seen with the funnels arraigned like that. Have there been other ships with a four square arrangement?

Sailor Steve 01-21-13 07:06 PM

None that I'm aware of, though the British Royal Sovereign and Majestic classes did have two funnels side by side.
