The Enigma 02-19-10 02:04 PM

Despite the several remarks about the graphics like details aren't correct,
arcadish style, shadows not OK etc.etc, I must say I like the way it looks.

Neal made a nice walk through.

Neal thank you for creating and sharing these vids.

Yeah :DL

Wasn't the guy next to him off the film Valkyrie? :DL

It was all shot inside a German Type VII sub :smug:

Gotmilk 02-19-10 04:20 PM

Yeah,

I sent an email. Guess i was lucky to be one of the first 20 people :)

I saw a lot of think that i lliked. I think that this game will have a lot of modding potential. Right now the Uboat seems so sterile. Hope we can add new animations, sound files, poster pictures and fill our boat with all kind of junk :)

Thank you Neal.

Harcor 02-19-10 04:28 PM

the video was cool thanks neal

609_Avatar 02-19-10 04:59 PM

I liked the guy hanging over his bunk, looked like he was about to hurl! lol

Gotmilk 02-19-10 05:10 PM

Did you see one guy reading a book? Exept he did not have any book. He just held hands on air like holding a book :)

The Enigma 02-19-10 05:12 PM

yep, I wondered what he was reading.

Actually you're wrong, FRAPS does capture desktop video if you have the latest version and select "Monitor Areo Desktop" it will work fine. I just did it to make sure I was remembering correctly. I'll post it if you don't believe me. ;)

Tested this on Win 7 with SH4 and it still doesn't work. I was using the older version of fraps and DL'ed the latest.

With the Monitor Aero desktop selected it does a good job of recording windows activity. When I fire up the game it only captures the loading scenes and nothing else. I can still record the game footage without Areo selected, but the 2D menu's are still not recorded. Bummer.

If you look around in the threads, you may discover a screen shot from that hidden video

Not sure what you're trying to do. This was initially about capturing Windows desktop activities and thus my posts about how to do it and as the video I posted shows, it does work for that just fine.

I'm assuming you're talking about in game? What menus are you trying to have recorded in game? Can you explain a bit more what you were trying to have recorded? I'll see if I can reproduce the same issue once I understand what you're trying to accomplish. Thanks.

It was all about Neal signing into the game online before he tested disconnecting the cable modem. He used a web cam and it wasn't a very focused shot so I suggested using Fraps to capture him doing a log-in but this doesn't work in 2D menu's, so there is a blank area we cannot capture when recording activity from our PC.

Forgive me but I do believe I had the correct answer in the first place. All Neal has to do is D/L the Capture program ( you know, the little camera icon on the task bar? ), click on his SHV icon to get game started, ( maybe click a pic of his desktop first to start with), then if UBI asks for info all Neal has to do is click the camera icon again for a pic which will tell us what UBI ask. WHY the movie part? All that's needed is a still pic.

If his game starts with no UBI interference ( He can click a couple of still pics of beginning of game if he wants. Still no movie needed. ) then we will know something is fishy because didn't UBI say each time you started a game you needed to log on?

Then ( after ending the game ) just to prove a BIG question use your web cam ( or whatever ) and unhook your Internet cable ( Doesn't modem have a rocker switch?? ) then again click the SHV icon and see if game starts.

I'm very curious as to these answers.........aren't you?

longam 02-19-10 09:16 PM

Wasn't trying to cut you down, just trying to solve a recording problem.

What is this your talking about?
Capture program ( you know, the little camera icon on the task bar? )

Got it. Just tried it out and see what you mean. I was able to record my desktop activity, then SHIV loading up and the couple of brief intro vids and then when it started to load up with the initial main screen where the red bar scrolls across showing the loading process it stopped recording.

Until it gets updated to hopefully fix this minor issue there is a simple workaround, turn off the recording and then turn it back on. Yes, you'll have two separate recordings but you'll want to use WMM or VirtualDub to compress the .AVI(s) anyway. I made a quick one illustrating what I mean to show you how easy it is with very little loss of video time, though I lost more than you really need to as I wasn't quick with the finger when trying this out. ;) Yes, very poor quality with no editing whatsoever or transitions added. Just put it together and uploaded it in 10min. and it shows. :D Actually it took longer counting the upload time to YouTube... but excluding the upload time, from start to finish it was a total of less than 10min. to record FRAPS and compile with WMM.
I'll post the link once it's uploaded.

Ran into a weird issue where my upload got delayed and then stalled out... did it again and was done in 2 min. Here's the link:
