I have thought ahead about making TM 1.4 compatible, should it occur, and i got an idea, but im not sure if it's feasible, or if i want to follow through with it or not. The idea involves, umm...... whats the word....

But if pigs should fly, and hell freeze over, i have an idea (im not saying im doing this) that is a little unorthodoxed if one was to look at the history of modpackages on Subsim.


The idea is simply to present TM as a community project. Infact, in the readme, it should say, TM, by (insert long list of names here). Then presented as community project, open a subforum in the mod forum specifically for work on TM.Right now im of the thought that only contributing modders should be allowed to post there to keep the forum on topic, but have the forum totally transparent for all to see, with a sticky post somewhere that anybody should be able to post to, to provide constructive feedback. Now there are infact, hidden forums on Subsim that are speicific for "teams" of modders like Sh3's GWX. None of it is transparent to subsim users.. Tmaru's however, should be. Any technical discussions or brainstorming going on, people should be able to see those. Everyones goal should be to better the game we call Sh4, so i see no reason why knowledge should be kept secret.

Now, note i said, "contributing modders" as opposed to "team members". Granted there is alot of teamwork involved, but i feel one should feel free to walk away from the project at anytime. This is a game, not a real life commitment. Nobody should be admonished for having RL take priority over the project (been there, done that, its BS).

Of course, and unfortunatly there has to be a "publisher", and i know im pretty much nominated. Another unfortuante aspect of this is that the "publisher" has to make final decisions on the direction of the mod. So this person may say something like, "I like this part, but not this part, and this might need more work". Now it doesnt have to be me, id be more then happy to step aside from that position. Infact id much rather focus on one little thing, and not one BIG thing.

By doing it this way, you capitalize on indiviual modders strengths, as all modders are really good at something, but not other things. Nobody takes on too large of a chunk of the work, so hopefully nobody gets burnt out, efforts are coordinated, and the game prospers. Theres only one catch.... when something in the mod doesnt work right, its you the modder they scream at, and that can get unfun, pretty fast. So if you worked on it, it sets you up as a target for questioning as adhoc tech support.


Now all of this is assuming

a.) i feel up to this, and have the time
b.) Subsim supports it
c.) Marka_Ragnos agrees to continue to host the mod for D/L
d.) if certain modders are intrested. ( i have a mental list, that im not sharing right now :D )

Oh Tater, as brilliant as some of your mods are......surely you must know there is a patch coming!

But since there is no patch, that post, is just alot of hot air, with no substance. That and if one were to implement that idea, it gives the impression of further support and refinement of the mod, something of which i dont think i have the long term time for.

This is a year where its sink or swim for me in california. The cost of living here is getting to high, and its to the point where 25-50 dollars means make ends meet or fall behind. Waiting on the spousal type unit to a.) get her health up , b.) get out of debt. If she can get her excrement together then its off to Schneiders training acadamny in Fontana. Else, i think we might move out of state (probaly arkansa where she has family), she continues medical, and i drive OTR long enough to pay my dues to get a regional job/route where id be home once a week, or maybe even every night or every other night if i could get a local job/route.

Duci is having a lot of fun with this thread. KLCARROLL has it correct. The Devs are not biting though....because they're too busy preparing the patch for release.:D

If you want proof; I'll donate $50 to susbim if there is no patch 1.4. Now ask Duci if he'll do the same if there is one.

Not really, KFM kicked off with his phone calls that spurned speculation that in fact there is a patch as told by UBI customer service. Ducimus was on the receiving side and ran with the ball down field in hopes of a touchdown(concrete evidence). On the sidelines, the coaches are formulating the final play of the game. So far, the coaches have not revealed the game winning play. Only have they acknowledged there is a final game play to win the superbowl. Be sure, the clipboard is full of game winning plays and then some.
