I think I can safely say that winter is here to stay for a few months. It is forecast that we are gonna get 15cm/6 inches on one weather site (environment Canada), yet the local radio station says 20cm/7.8 inches. They are also forecasting 20mph winds out of the North. The snow that is falling is coming straight down.

Todays forecast
Snow at times heavy and local blowing snow. Amount 15 cm. Wind north 30 km/h gusting to 50. High minus 7.
TonightSnow ending late this evening then cloudy with 40 percent chance of flurries. Amount 2 cm. Local blowing snow this evening. Wind north 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming light near midnight. Low minus 11.
We've already got 6-7" on the ground, so far. I'm gonna go out and blow shortly.

Went out at 10:30 and just got back in now. 3 hours aint bad when you consider 5 drive ways and a medium sized parking lot. We are good until tomorrow unless we get what Buffalo got last week.

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! About 2" so far and more on the way.
Bring it on Old Man, Winter!

Old man winter is being gracious here. The great tempest is turning out to be a great deluge of much needed water. The Napa River did not rise to flood stage. Several local reservoirs are full and this will materially affect our three-year drought. Their spillways are overflowing. My personal water guage (a large flower vase) for the week is up 6 inches and more rain all week. The water rationing is such that restaurants don't serve water unless asked specifically. It's welcome relief and better than a nasty hail storm a month ago that dropped corn-size hail directly on my 1/2 sq. mile neighborhood-five inches deep!

Hail is easier to shovel than snow.
The snow we got last night and this morning was heavy, wet and sloppy. Good packing snow for snowmen and snowball fights, but not all that good to blow.

Another couple of inches coming over night. This is a good thing. I think.

Nope, not yet. I'm still going out in a T-shirt and insulated long sleeved shirt over it. I must get below -20F before I put more clothes on. Of course I have my pants/jeans on.

When the temps get to -40F then I put on my peter heater. I will just bet that your real women in UK don't wear them.

Things are going to warm up tonight. Overnight low of 25F/-4C. Snow in the forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday and maybe Thursday.
We are going to have a white Christmas!

Tomorrow does mark the winter solstice.

Will Jimbuna be at Stonehenge to commemorate the rebirth of the sun?
