Hello all, I am a Silent Hunter 4 player. I have been playing for a couple years and am finally trying to learn manual targeting when I found subsim.com. I first got into sub simulators back in the early 90's with the dos version of Aces of the Deep.

I've been playing the Silent Hunter trilogy for several years now. Now I'm trying to play Silent Hunter 5 with mods. I'm excited for the new Experience! :D

So, at the nag... er, suggestion of a friend with SH4, I broke down and bought it on Steam. I made quite a mistake waiting this long. :D

Playing with everything turned on except the Manual Targeting, this game is very challenging- more so than any other Pacific Theater game I've ever played. I will say that those Japansies must have stolen a few British sonar sets, cause they have NO problems picking you up while sitting still on the bottom under silent running... but that just adds to the fun.

I found the download links for the Is-Was, and I'm planning on practicing so I can do my own targeting... just as soon as I can find a place to print the plastic parts. :shifty:

Any suggestions on mods to download for the game?
Back in the day, I loved the N-class boats in Silent Service II. I'd really like to have the opportunity to play one in this game.
Also, the fact that the medals are, well, a bloody joke... that annoys me.
Additionally, I'm a big fan of the S-boats- is there a mod that will put in the various subgroups, like the Group II boats (with the aft tube)?

So many things I want to ask- so little time!
ANYTHING ya'll can share will be appreciated.

Tango Mike for putting out the welcome mat for a ground-pounder, gents.
I see that the N-class will have to wait a while as she costs money (and looks to be well worth it ). I have used up the last of my Kitchen Passes for the month, so unless someone is nice enough to talk my C.O. and talk her into a special dispensation... yeah, June-ish, after the bills are paid.

The other stuff around here is simply AMAZING.

And as for Keltos01's 'Climb Mt. Niitaki' mod... when it comes out, I will personally cut him a check for a six pack of beer- whatever it costs where he lives. The Imperial Japanese Navy had one of the most unique submarine fleets in history, and to be able to play with some of their vessels would be a dream come true.:D

That's a nice one... This is what I see every time I go fishing... though I see her from about 10km distant. She still stands out, though. ;) http://www.localattractions.com/uplo...re1_image.jpeg
