So?

What's the general idea of everybody:

Deactivate all the installed mod's, install the patch, play the game and then install all of the mod's one by one to check things out?

Regards,
fvd

Thats the convetional wisdom and a good way of trouble shooting. If the game suddenly starts crashing you wont know if the mods or the patch is causing it.

Personally I installed over only the green button mod and had no problems. Ill start adding more after a few days as I wait for horror storys to pour in.

its kind off a relief to have the patch out lets just hope it brings something good with it

It Works! Sort of...

I rebooted after patching and it worked fine but it crashed a half hour in while I was practicing manuel targeting. When I started it up again, it didn't work. Could be I have to reboot each time or I have to watch the intro each time.
Hopefully the crashes don't persist...

This patch is pretty cool really. I know it has its short comings in some areas, but then again who seriously was expecting it to be perfect? Nothing in life is perfect so why would SH4 be any different?

Although I'm not a fan of things like strategic options, I'm looking forward to the expansion, if not just to see what further enhancements it will make.

I just hope it doesn't alter too much, so after we've got everything sorted for 1.4 compatible mods we have to start all over again a couple of months down the line :damn:

It could be driver issues.

If you haven't, try visiting your video card maker's homesite and download the latest drivers for your video card, then restart. Could be it.

WHY? Sh4 was disc free with patch 1.3, 1.4 is no different.

No, It's not driver issues, I got it working fine, I don't know how though...

Had no crashes since.

Well, I screwed the pooch for sure. I tried to do what everyone recommended. I Uninstalled SH4, then re-installed (from DVD), installed the patch, copied over the MOD folder(s). Somehow it got all messed up. Now I seem to have a halfway installed SH4. It doesn't work. Locks up to a black screen immediately after the intro movie plays. I tried to use Control Panel to Uninstall SH4 again, but it tells me I have to uninstall the 1.4 version first....which I can't do. I then try to re-install from the orig DVD again, the DVD opens up with the "Install" option greyed out and if I select "Uninstall" I get the same message about 1.4 version being in place and having to be removed before SH4 can be installed.

I've got nothing now, as far as SH4 goes. It's Prob a weird Registry problem but I am no way capable of going in and messing with the registry. Any ideas?

I tried to reboot with No luck. I uninstalled SH4, reinstalled SH4 &

Had similar problems.

Did JSGME unmod. Patched. Had crashes and loading errors. would not let me uninstall or reinstall. I musta manually edited something or other and forgot about it.

I manually deleted all the SH4 files and ran a registry cleaner.

Good freebee here: http://www.ccleaner.com/

Then it allowed me to reinstall.

Patched, no problems.

I don't know how exactly the interface mods do their job, but it's a good chance they replace the menu_1024_768.ini file with a modified version of 1.3 version of the file. If that's the case, the item with the 0x31020001 ID is missing (which is for the new icons displayed in navigation map for ports (and as part of the "strategic game" in the add-on)).

So you need to get your hands on the clean version from 1.4 patch.

:ping: The conclusion is that all 1.3 interface mods that change the menu_1024_768.ini are NOT compliant with the 1.4 patch and will cause the navigation map to crash.
