I took Dirty Harry's advice and combined it with RFB's scene.dat. (Thanks for the idiot proof ie me proof instructions by the way!) and it is jaw dropping. You're right the pictures do not do it justice.

Thanks so much! It's amazing. Great job!!!

I am using it from yesterday... and may be it improves my FPS... ??

I think so i have better FPS now !!!

Another time ... many thank Leo !

Wonderful mod...

Wow. :o

I installed the mod last night and couldn't believe the difference. I was sailing through a rainstorm south of Hokkaido and the view to port from the bridge looked like the real thing! Taking a look with the external camera revealed that instead of flying over the wild ocean, my boat actually RODE THE WAVES.

Outstanding work, Leovampire! Give this one a try, skippers!

I have to say I think this MOD looks better (at least the glassy feature gets toned down) on a lower resolution setting. :know: To each his own.

kapitan_zur_see 07-24-07 10:19 AM

omg!

didn't tried it yet, i have to wait for the weekend

As far as what is told and the pictures, it does look completly outstanding!! One of the best mod for SH4, period. The ocean looks breathtaking and if the sub really rides waves now, it must be a great experience! :D

I think you acomplished quite something there
On vanilla the ocean already was gorgeous but now...

Many many thanks to you!!

Hell. I told my wife to stare at the "ocean" with me from the Bridge view for as long as she could on my 22" LCD. Talk about getting QWEEZY...brp

OK, the 1.3 patch and this mod are enough to draw this noobie back to SH4, but I'm technically challenged and having problems.

1.) I downloaded and installed JSGME
2.) Downloaded Leovampire's http://files.filefront.com/Living+breathing+Ocean+fixrar/;8121528;;/fileinfo.html file.
Now, do I simply enable this mod with JSGME, or do I still need to do the numerical tweaks described in the rest of the first post?

My trouble is, I've installed timetraveller's SHIII Mini Tweaker, made the new desktop folder, created the Data folder inside that, and copied my "scene.dat" file from SHIV into the Data folder, BUT, when I try to open it in Mini Tweaker, it doesn't see the .dat file, it only seems able to read .txt files.

Am I making this harder than it needs to be?
Am I doing something wrong?
So how do I get Mini Tweaker to see my copied scene.dat file and open it? And yes, I did direct "Locate alternate game folder" to the folder above the Data folder, but it still won't see scene.dat so I can open it and change the values.

I hate it when I seem to be the only one having problems with this process!

Weather-guesser 07-24-07 01:21 PM

You dont need to use the tweaker at all unless you already have a MOD that you like enabled, that has changed the "scene.dat" file. Just use the MOD enabler and the correct download that was jsgme ready and you are good to go. If you did have a MOD that already changed the "scene.dat" file, You have to use the other download and use the tweaker. I'll let someone else explain the tweaker since I havnt used it.

DirtyHarry3033 07-24-07 02:19 PM

Docjonel, the one you linked to is the JSGME-ready version which includes the modded scene.dat file. All you need to do is extract it into your SH4 Mods folder and then enable it with JSGME. No need to mess with MiniTweaker!

If JSGME complains that another mod has already changed scene.dat, that's the only time you'd need to mess with MiniTweaker. You could just let JSGME go ahead and install it anyway, but you'd lose any changes made to scene.dat by the other mod. If you wanted to keep the other mod and also have Living Ocean, that's when its time to break out MiniTweaker.

Here is some info on MiniTweaker, if you end up needing to use it:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...30&postcount=2

The problem you're having is, you're trying to open scene.dat with MiniTweaker. That won't work, you need to open a tweak file called scene.dat.txt. The above link provides a link where the scene.dat (and other) tweak files can be d/l'ed, and instructions on how to install them in MiniTweaker. Once you've done that, you'll be able to open scene.dat.txt and you'll then be able to mod scene.dat.

HTH!

Mods like this one really help immersion. The environment is an important factor -, and you did a good job of adjusting it towards a visual- and physical more realistic appearance! Many thanks
