Jim i think we both know that this forum is far from a place where Free speach is allowed.;) If you point out something that leaves the powers that be around here with egg on there face. It is a one way ticket to a PM mauling by the modderators, Then a ban for using one yes one out of line sentance. Very far from a place where Freedom of speach is welcome. :yep:

As for moving to play sh4 , You have got to be kidding i would not even think of playing that piece of trash again after what i encountered when it was realesed

G'dey matey.....apologies for the weekend, but each time I was on TS the Kpt. etc. etc. needed a word. I have the latest ******* d/l and it looks fine in MP.....anytime your available (trips back to the UK permitting) of course ;)

I got SH4 immediately and I do like it, and indeed play it too, but in my opinion it does not seem a huge leap forward from SH3. Sure it has the eye candy, but even an ardent fan wouldn't claim that it has much that SH3 cannot do.

I realise that it has a small budget in comparison to many other games, but in my opinion, looking at developing a game in that way is a bit like putting the cart before the horse. A truly innovative game which pushed gaming concept boundaries would have found a big audience (regardless of what game type it was), as it has done with other genres, and from UBI's marketing, it's clear that they were hoping for SH4 to pull something like that off.

If I had been in charge of what to put into a new sub sim, I would have been inclined to model more of the systems, so that you had to make trim dives and solve problems etc, such as running out of food, or whatever. I'd also have had it so that the crew were more interactive, too. What would have been real fun would have been to have to deal with crew insubordination and disappointment with you if you did badly or made poor tactical choices. Perhaps even have an XO that questions your decisions or makes suggestions as to tactics and the like. Stuff like that would certainly have moved the genre along.

SH4 is okay in my opinion, but it is no showstopper, although I will admit that I may be biased since I prefer the Atlantic theatre.

Two great sims, SH3 or GWX as it should be called :yep:, and SH4.

This mod, just out today, is a showstopper, have a look:

Gotten burned by premature releases one time too often, I decided to wait and monitor the community and feedback for SH4. Planned to get it once it was properly patched. But 1.3 feedback still does not motivate me, and my interest for it has dropped to almost zero meanwhile - simply too much time passing by. So by now I assume I will never buy it.

Instead I reinstalled SH3 again, after a very long brake. GWX was new for me, and thus I had a new, solid, proven game. So why spending money on SH4?

The periscope I use most is that of the Leopard anway. :D

I get little bursts where I am into Silent Hunter 4 and then... poof, gone... I think its a beautiful looking game and all the rest, but, it does so little to retain me. I have to say I just can't sit and play it like I do SH3

Like many others here, I must agree that the SH4 dont make it to homeport.
I have it, but dont play it. SH3 is so much more better with Grey Wolf mod.
Sad thing... was waiting so long for this new one.
