:hmm: Tons of trailers, movies, previews, answers from dev team at official site - nothing could force me to leave SH3 and buy SH4 right after its premiere. But after reading your little "review"... well Ubisoft should thank you - i'm gonna buy SH4 (when it will be available where i live). Damn! I even got excited a bit about Silent Hunter 4... |
The klaxon is there.
I died....and it was just a screen, like in sh3 saying that I failed my mission and destroyed my sub. I pressed esc, but I doubt there was any movie after that. About the visual range....in ideal conditions I saw the ships at around 12000 meters....smoke first. |

Good summary, I agree with you on several point. The interface is pretty good once you get used to it and you can switch function faster, I think. Also agree the clouds boild away about 10x too quickly and there need to be a few more key crew sounds: Firing one, firing two; We're taking damage, we're sinking, etc. I think once you get a veteran crew the dive times will improve. US subs could crash dive to PD in less than 45 seconds. How do you like the TDC? I think it is a game in itself. I especially like how the TDC will remember each ship you ID, so you can set up on several ships before firing....oops, better hold off until tomorrow  |
Ahh. Cant wait much longer.
|
Thanks for the tip-off Neal. On the 'what happens when you die' subject, I've seen screenshots of crewman lying seemingly unconcious on the compartment floor, with water spewing out of burst pipes etc. So what was that?

This is great indeed. The periscope station offers much...MUCH more than sh3. Once you begin your attack, you input every ship in the tdc. You have all the tools in your hand, the torpedo settings snd so on. Realism fans will enjoy themselves to the maximum. There is one thing that however bothers me. You have the realism settings like in sh3, but also a master switch which again controls some variables...Easy, Medium...and so on. How does this setting affect the ones that I have already set ? Is it something like the MP system in sh3 regarding this aspect ? |
