Skiing is great this year, good snows in the mountains. But the search and rescue is higher this year too, as some folks just don't like to pay attention to the avalanche and storm warnings.

I like the 105's used for triggerring avalanches before they get out of hand and real nasty.

Where in CO? You been to any 10th MD huts lately? It's a shame, snow pack is unstable enough to have human-triggered avies, but stable enough to have very few natural slides, which gives skiers and boarders a false sense of security, leading to more fatalities. I think that is how the season is going to shape out. Always dig a pit and test (and wear a damned beacon)!

Rose,

Out in Aurora, not too far from Buckley ANG Base. It's cool watchin' the Hornets and F-16's fly over at low altitude. They don't do it all the time, but often enough when I'm home.

I don't mess with the winter sports here much anymore. Traffic's a huge hassle, and too many of those warm climate drivers in the snow.

I used to take a tunnel west of Rollinsville, that would get you into Winter Park the back way, but the thing kept collapsing, and it's been years since it's been open. Used to knock an hour to an hour and a half off the trip.

Yet another Dane...

Must be something about a naval simulator and the fact we once had one of the greatest Naval powers in the world... Until Lord Nelson practically destroyed it in 1801 (...that ...that ....seriously unfriendly kinda guy...!!!) Now we have... what... a leftover diesel sub from ww2 (...or is it ww1 ??!?) and a couple of Korvetter (corvettes)...

Ohwell...

Russia, Kursk (about 300 miles south from Moscow).

You may remember about that sub accident with the same name back in 2000...

Yes indeed. And I'm really surprised that you aware of that... I'm pretty sure that even most of local teenagers have a very little knowledge about WW2. You know, MTV, goth parties, Marylin Manson etc - that is what really interests them.
