It's my fault really. You're not the first to get confused about this. I should have explained in the readme what the Uboat folder actualy does, instead of just telling people what to do with it. Anyway, glad you're sorted now.

Hey there, mr.OLC!
I just D'loaded your mod and going to install it later tonight.
Your mod makes some changes to the navmap, correct? I'm playing with real navigation so my sub icon doenst show on the map. Will your mod change that so I would have to make the icon disappear again or not?

And one other thing I noticed that when you fired the torpedo in the tutorial video, the chronometer did not show the estimated impact time. or maybe I just missed it?

And yes probably the most important question is that can I install when at sea?

If not I would have to Flank back to port and I'm about 2000 klicks away. Hope I have enough fuel.. :hmm:

Thanks

I don't use the real navigation mod, so I don't know what files it changes. If JSGME reports a conflict then the two mods probably aren't compatible, otherwise you should be OK to use them both.

It does show it - even in the video. You must have missed it.

Yes.

Answers above in yellow.

If the sub doesnt show on the map, then how the hell do you know where you are? :o

By using the tools (sextant) in real navigation mod or just control+mouse click will let you know where you are

JohnnyBlaze 04-02-08 01:37 PM

Thanks for the answers Mr.OLC

I then must have missed it in the tutorial.

I'm not actually using the real navigation mod. I have only edited some files (forgot which ones) to make my sub icon disappear.
Well I guess I have to go looking for the old threat about navigation just for sure.

Going to install this wonderful looking GUI mod right now. hope I dont mess up :rotfl:

I haven't seen any listed yet, but just wanted to double check.

Have there been any known issues with GWX 2.1?

moscowexile 04-19-08 12:36 AM

So far I have not been able to get OLC GUI to run on GWX 2.1. I'm still trying, though.

onelifecrisis 04-19-08 03:08 AM

moscowexile, you can hardly get anything to work, if your other posts and threads are any indication.

Able72,
Yes, OLC GUI is compatible with GWX 2.1.

Do you mean when attacking ?

Everything you need to know about the target is information relative to your own position. So you pick some random point on the map, just for drawing purposes and begin to plot your attack plan/solution there.
You of course need to keep track of time and your own position from there on, so watch your speed and course and draw those things too.

Seeing your boat on the map makes it all too easy, I think :arrgh!:

Able72,
Yes, OLC GUI is compatible with GWX 2.1.

But everything was up and running well until I updated to GWX 2.1!

I am nearly there again, though.

It's usually wrong filing on my part (or WinRAR's), I guess, that is the source of most of my woes. However, in view of the fact that OLC has now stated that his excellent GUI mod is compatible with GWX 2.1, I shall continue to get said mod running, that mod being the only one that so far remains troublesome.

OK OK, did you re-install OLC GUI from scratch after updating GWX, including recreating the 'DoubleMastValues' mod from scratch using the DoubleMastTool.exe file?

Attacking is easy. The problem is navigation. Without knowing where your uboat is exactly, its hard to avoyd running aground in some island around the globe. I mean, you can change your direction, but if you don't know where you are, then you dont know your destination, and then things starts to get complicated. Im running at 2048x TC from one place to another, and that with manual navigation is suicide.

Sorry for the high jack and poket aces, OLC!

The easiest way to learn how to use all the features of the OLC GUI is to watch the 40 minute video tutorial that OLC put together. He explains how to bring up and use every tool provided in the GUI. The Documentation provided when you downloaded the Mod is also very helpful.

Here is a link to the Video and some words from OLC:

The (40 minute!) video tutorial and small "User Manual" document (included in the mod) cover everything in the GUI. You may need to install the DivX codecs (www.divx.com) before you can watch the video. There's a couple of mistakes in it  but all the methods demonstrated do work. Also, written instructions (with pictures) on how to get a firing solution can be found here (subsim post by Friedl9te) and here (downloadable, printable PDF document written by skookum). The visual style of the mod has changed a bit since the video was made, but the function of the tools has not.
