Elon Musk says Democrats should take the blame for the new Republican bill failing, but Republicans control the House. Mike Johnson tries to blame Democrats for 38 Republicans voting against the bill. Is there someone slowly and patiently explaining to Musk that he can't fire 75% of the House like it's Twitter? :D

The Democrats are just sitting back now and letting the GOP eat itself to death, after all, the GOP has a House majority, a Senate majority, the Presidency, and a SCOTUS that is sympathetic. There is no D in that equation to failure. Enjoy.

Everything is fine, gamesmanship to the end :shucks:

Imagine that, the slipping it to the taxpayers days before Christmas is over. The idea that stuffing a bill with pork is no longer permitted. This is something new to those who want their pet projects funded so they can win their next election. It's now under the scope. The days of 1500 page bills that the likes of drunken Pelosi never reads is over. It's time for a hard line. Kicking the can down the road is no longer an option. Buckle up. There is more to come.

I'm glad it failed. I'm glad there is a guy with no real skin in the game. A guy not looking for a vote. It's time to change the way DC does business. How business is conducted now is not working. The checkbook is in the red and getting redder. BTW, the 38 republicans voted against it because their pork was removed from the bill. Oh well, welcome to the new way it is done.

The government is not a business and shouldn't be run like one. Businesses get rich off of getting as much as possible for giving as little as possible, for a government that means high taxes for low services as much as possible.

The government is very much like a business. They do tax at a high rate and offer the bare minimum. MD is 2.8 billion in the hole. Guess what is coming? Higher taxes and minimal return.

When anyone says that government should be run like a business they mean with financial accountability and balanced budgets obviously. Not some commie vision of 19th century workhouses.

Elon Musk's role in all this started shady, and can get just darker.

Oh I lighten up quite often. It's been legal in this country for years. And I never said you were bitter. I said you sound bitter. Slight difference. Anyway I am relieved to hear you are not. After all it is only politics and guys our age have other worries. But I will stick with my original position. The reason that Donald Trump will be the next President and the GOP will control Congress is not because they are smarter or have better ideas. It is because the electorate threw the bums in power out. And I think that result should be respected. You know what they say, "the simplest explanation is usually the best one" The Democrats need to make some major changes at the top. Pelosi, Schumer and especially Obama should be told by Democrats to sit down and shut up. They were the architects of this election defeat. What a legacy.

I'm not worried about Musk. But many in DC are as they are called out on the crap.

Voices has been raised here in Denmark-on the topic of how many member of the Danish Parliament-They say 99 would be more than enough from todays 179.

I don't know if it's possible with all our parties, but I think it would be possible in US with only two parties.

Meaning decrease how many politicians there is in Congress and Senate.

So if Musk can make the Congress and the Senate more effective by cutting away some politician-Then I see it as a good thing.

This is what I think-Not meaning it is the correct to do so.

Denmark has about six million inhabitants. The USA have about 330 million inhabitants, 55 times as many.

The US House of representatives has 435 members. In terms of reps per population Denmark's parliament would have to be reduced to eight (8) members to achieve roughly the same ratio.

And no, Musk is not going to do something like that. If he actually does anything useful (which I doubt, he will only make more promises he never fulfils), he will only cut spending that doesn't end in his pocket.
It's more likely that he will just do more sales pitches, making well-sounding promisses which will evaporate upon first contact with reality, like the hundreds of promises he has made before.
