Awesome pics of the Lanc! I'm not sure why but the Goring quote on the Lancs nose got me thinking of a story I've heard of where the tail gunner of a B-17 (or rather I think it was a 17, could of been a 24) had written of the side of the plane " Wenn Sie dies lesen können, sind Sie nah genug.", or in English "If you can read this, you're close enough."

Edit: Wow they've got a Bristfit there! Now that is a sweet bird from WW1.

Yeah, some of the artwork on planes was tremendous.

Half way back home we suddenly realised we'd forgotten to visit the hall dedicated to WW1

Well, as long as it wasn't a virus then no harm done. :yep: I've bookmarked it in Amazon so the name will stick on my list, along with Flying Freestyle which Herr B already recommended to me. :03:

You forgot to visit the WWI hall? Ouch, that's a shame, there's some nice kites in there. Next time I'm in the area I'll try to remember to take as many pics in there as I can.

Good to see that one of the 'Quality Street Gang' (and I googled them by the way, love the reference) got a pic with the Rhino and his kid, good memories are made in photos like that.

My books are usually borrowed from the library, or bought from charity shops, this was a rare by it of Ebay occasion. At the price I paid I'm more that happy to simply post it on to you after I've read it.

Flying Freestyle you'll have to sort for yourself. :O:

Look Holmes!!! All these picutres of aeroplanes, its the work of the "Mad Photographer"!! We must put a stop to this at once, but who is he?

Elementary ,my dear Watson! Its a northener! More specifically , he's from Newcastle! You can see that by the way he holds his camera! We'll board the first train for Newcastle in the morning. Come Watson, the games afoot!!

Northeners, Newcastle you say Holmes!?! Right, I'll get my revolver, those northeners can be a bit daft at times!

:D

Jimbuna 11-05-12 03:54 PM

LOL, Hadrians wall was actually built by the Picts/Scots to protect themselves from us 'Northerners' :)

I have to admit the Bristol F2.b is the better plane, but I thought the RAF Fe.2b was much cuter. :D

Kptlt. Neuerburg 11-05-12 11:13 PM

I've got the Bristfit in Rise of Flight and I was kinda dumbfounded when the the first mission with it was an offencive patrol! Its a really stable gun platform and a fantastic dogfighter. The Fe.2B looks a lot like the Airco D.H.2 with the addition of a gunners postion, different engine and longer wings.
