STEED 06-05-12 10:20 AM

Come on guys go and see it so we can chat about it.

Dowly 06-05-12 10:26 AM

AvPGalaxy.net has a dedicated forum section just for Prometheus if you really want to chat about it. :DL

Hopefully, I'll see it during this week. :hmmm:

Dowly 06-06-12 08:22 AM

Finally saw it today and first impressions are quite mixed. Can't honestly say
it left very big of an impression, at least not after first watching.

The Space Jockey design was pretty damn good, tho.

STEED 06-06-12 08:38 AM

Engineers Dowly! Space jockey that's Alien! :haha:

I will say this...

SPOILER ALERT YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! DO NOT READ THE BELOW!

The trailers were deceptive to a degree.

Same suits, same ships and the need to produce galactic sexual predators because "what could possibly go wrong, right?".

I'm gonna go with Space Jockey. :O:

STEED 06-06-12 09:03 AM

Please no cross over with the Predators that was a mistake.

I too had some mixed feelings about the film.

I have stuck with my 7 out of 10.

Dowly 06-06-12 09:11 AM

Yup, 6.5-7 / 10

Entertaining movie, but I was hoping for much more from Ridley Scott.

At least it didn't contradict ALIEN that much, so that's good. :yep:

STEED 06-06-12 09:21 AM

I think that's the problem, people are going in thinking its a pre-Alien film which it is not as Ridley moved away from that area to a different area.

Raised more questions than answers for me. :hmmm:

kiwi_2005 06-06-12 09:41 AM

SPOILER!

Tho it is the name of the ship but the Prometheus myth isn't about some Titan God, the Greeks got it so wrong! :DL Besides I like Scotts myth better. Prometheus was all along connected to the engineers who came to earth millions of years ago and implanted apes with their dna. Thus creating the human race. They were our creators :yeah: I wasn't expecting that I was blown away so just that gets a 10/10 for me. I liked the ending too but I wish this was a 4hr movie so we could see what happens next & the answers Shaw gets. :D

The movie itself I'll give it an 8

Good interview with Ridley Scott about Prometheus (Contains spoilers):

And pick of the day from avpgalaxy, on what David said to the Engineer:

No wonder he was so pissed. :haha:

Dave was such a wimp. :haha:

I hope Ridley dose a sequel aa he could tie it in with ALIEN and open the door even more.

kiwi_2005 06-06-12 02:11 PM

In the start the engineer who sacrificed himself how he did it near the water so his dna would spread throughout the world. This was Earth? :hmmm:

I am looking forward Prometheus 2 as I want to know what happens to Shaw, Im thinking how the aliens are in Alien/s films is because they have Shaws (human dna) the engineers at their homeworld use her dna after killing her to further their creation. Shaw is the seed of all aliens after her, thats why the aliens look like they do, kinda like human form legs/arms not looking like some spagetti monster before

:88)

Dowly 06-06-12 02:28 PM

Yeah, the planet in the beginning was Earth.

As for the different looking Aliens in the later films, I figured they are just more
refined version. The incident on the planet they go to took place some 2000 years
ago, so they've had plenty of time to improve on the alien maybe on other planets. :hmmm:

Of course, the look of the actual full grown alien has to do with the DNA of the
host it's born off. Humans give birth to the larger drone & warrior types and in
Alien³ we have the slimmer, faster runner alien from dog (or ox if you go with the Assembly Cut).

So who's tried out over at Weyland Industries?

Egan 06-07-12 03:22 PM

Well, I enjoyed it very much. 7.5/8 out of 10 I think. Did feel I abit like two separate movies spliced together, though: A deeper, more philosophical one in the first half, a frenetic, slightly confused space slasher in the second. still good, though.

I thought Idris Elba, Noomie Rappace and Michael Fassbender were excellent, especially Fassbender who was brilliantly 'different' as the - what term are we currently using in the Alien universe - Synthetic.

First 3-D film I've been to as well. Quite enjoyed it. the D-box moving, vibrating chairs were fun too. Would have been quite something to sit in one of them during the drop ship scene in Aliens.

With a 150ft plunge! :o :haha:

I only recognised Idris Elba from the BBC cop show Luther and from CH4 slick vampire one off series Ultraviolet. As for the main cast as whole yes they were a good choice.

That site is pretty cool, I explored the planets but the training academy is a bitch. The damn arrow keys do not move you far enough to the left or right when dodging the obstacles! After 3 attempts I then asked myself Why the hell am I playing this! :88)

I know him mostly from The Wire. He played Stringer Bell and was phenomenal.

What you don't want to work for Weyland? :)
