<O>

Other than two daily visits whilst in the Tyne unfortunately not but in all honesty I reckon that is down to his parents (wife mainly) being unable to book annual leave at the most opportune time. Come the true retirement (free of all part-time work) we (the wife and I) are looking forward to some quality time aboard.

Hopefully when that time comes the wife won't be wandering around the ship stalking him but rather letting him get on with his duties unhindered :)

About your wife stalking him Jim while he's working, how realistic is it that she will stop doing that!?! :) You know what they say, a woman's work is never done!:D

After WWIII they should make this way of tracking vessel's a law for warships and submarines too.

Do submarines have transponders?

vienna 01-13-17 03:48 PM

You mean the kind they can turn off?...

Automatic identification system - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automa...ication_System
The automatic identification system (AIS) is an automatic tracking system used on ships and by vessel traffic services (VTS) for identifying and locating vessels

Yes, the one for ships is a law. So I suppose submarines don't have one for navigation, but they do have emergency orange beacons that flash all the time when navigating.
