You can upgrade immediately by making a Windows 10 installation disc/USB drive (here) and running it on Windows 7/8. You can theoretically make a fresh installation of Windows 10 too but it didn't like my Windows 7 serial for some reason.

I'm not terribly impressed with Windows 10 so far. I think the interface is worse than Windows 7, and it's not nearly as customizable. It's also utterly rife with Microsloth's counter-productive attempts to be user friendly, I guess, by taking away options in favour of the operating system doing whatever it wants, obstructing simple things and using confusing terminology (I still haven't out what 'apps' are supposed to be, for example). I also turned off about a dozen options relating to data collection to 'improve my experience', though it probably still does that, and there are various other fundamentally stupid features infesting it (Wi-Fi Sense is the infamous one).

That's not to say it's unusable. I haven't had any problems with program compatibility so far. Pretty much everything I tried worked (once I got things like UAC, which can no longer reliably be turned off, to stop breaking them), including a couple of semi-esoteric drivers which still haven't been properly updated. I'd be very surprised if any games which worked on Windows 7/8 would have trouble with this one. But if you don't have any interest in the new interface or any of Windows 10's new features (like DirectX 12, which still isn't being used by anything), I don't think there are any reasons to upgrade for now. Unless you're running Windows 8, that is...

Got mine. Download was slow but then I suppose everyone is trying to download it. I've installed and it seems find.

Had to reboot as my touchpad was a little iffy but all is well now.

This does not make me feel should I upgrade from my Win8.1 and that is why I holding off until next year. So far for me I'm 65% not bothering, where I stand on this next year will decide it for me.

Try this method to force install:

I tried that method and it still won't download, is there any other way to download?

Sorry. 1.5.

I waited until about 4:00 pm yesterday, then just ended up doing a manual upgrade. So far everything works, but a couple of things are not like in the preview version. :hmmm:

Open up your Windows Update. Once open showing any updates your computer needs(or none) look at the bottom and see if it states Window 10 confirmed but pending download(something like that). This means it has not been sent to your machine yet. If you do not see this at the bottom of the update screen click on update history and see if Windows 10 update has failed. If that does not show then the update has not been sent to your computer. If it does show in the history as a fail, right click to see the details of failure.

It's being done in waves (right up our alley:up:)

It'll wash over you shortly I'm sure.:03::yep:

Millions of downloads all at once will swamp their Windows 3.0 servers.

andy_311 07-30-15 04:33 PM

Upgraded mine today now my pc looks like my mobile phone with a bunch of apps I won't even use.

avers 07-30-15 04:47 PM

I followed your link and still shows up as a failed download so idk what's happening.

Not trying to be a smartaleck or anything but, I think you'll need a better internet connection than the two tin cans on a string.:03:
Remember, it's microdaft after all. They went to defecate and the hogs ate them after Billy boy retired.
Windows 8.0 was clear proof. :hmmm:

avers 07-30-15 05:56 PM

I don't really know how to improve my connection, my PC and router are in the same room and my room is big and there at opposite ends of the room so I don't know how to run an Ethernet cable to my PC.
