I agree. W40K has had decades to polish it into it's current (and excellent) story line. You're right, scifi has a history of "borrowed elements" from ST. It's funny to hear my Son say Dawn of War robbed Starcraft of Orc & Marine characters, when WH40K existed before he was born. And the Tyranids of 40K clearly came from the Alien movies, which got the idea from the bugs of ST. I had never heard of Warhammer before DOW, and have read over 70 novels since I was introduced to the universe. But I'm getting OT.

The movie Tina Turner movie, "What's Love Got to Do With It" was awful and way too long. It was the 1st movie I had rented with a new girl I was trying to see. By the time it was over, we were both so restless (and not in a good way) I was more concerned with getting the Hell out of there instead of making a move on her.

If you liked Dead Snow you might like the first movie from the same gang, Kill Buljo. Its a parody on Kill Bill ++ Although it has some really funny parts its mostly just bad.

Trailer (dubbed in English, but try to get a subtitled version)

Anything with Misty Mundae in...they are spoof horror films with some extras thrown in.

Much of the humour lies in the language itself, and you need a familiarity with Norwegian dialects to understand it. Same reason you can't really "get" Flåklypa unless you're familiar with Norwegian language, no matter how good the translation. Nevertheless, I completely agree with your asessment of Kill Buljo: some really funny parts but mostly just bad.

After struggling through that God awful book, I could only watch 30 minutes of the movie before the novelty of that train wreck got old. As far as a bad big budget movie, I think we may have a winner.

I only recently discovered that I've seen this one. I had no idea I was watching Doom when I watched it, I just saw Karl Urban on the screen and stopped flipping channels. I don't remember it being all that bad considering the genre, but it's entirely possible I was distracted by the fact that Karl Urban was on the screen.

In my opinion, if you are going to make a movie based on a video game, it should resemble the video game. Since DOOM was very linear. The set design and main plot are already set, all you have to do is worry about the CGI (which is what movies are all about these days)

I think there are many video games that would make great movies, if the director could stick to the game plot/sets

I can top all of this: ANY movie by Uwe Boll.

Titanic 2
http://www.theasylum.cc/product.php?id=174

On the 100th anniversary of the original voyage, a modern luxury liner christened "Titanic 2," follows the path of its namesake. But when a tsunami hurls an ice berg into the new ship's path, the passengers and crew must fight to avoid a similar fate.

Not out till August but no doubt it will be bad. :)

OMG, that movie sounds so bad it is sucking now.

Lemme get this straight, a tsunami in mid ocean (deeeeeep water) will somehow be able to "hurl an iceberg"? Really? :hmmm:

The problem with tsunamis is that in deep water they are difficult to detect/track. They have a small amplitude but a long wavelength. In mid ocean a tsunami only has a swell of about one meter.

It is only when the tsunami approaches shallower water where the speed of the tsunami is translated in to amplitude and you get the devastating surge.

A ship and or an iceberg in mid ocean probably would not be affected by a tsunami.

If the directors of this movie could not be bothered to conduct 10 minutes research on the Internets Tubes, I think it is safe to assume that the movie will be lacking in any sort of realism, but will excel in suckyness.

I think I will wait until it comes out on Netflix and then not add it to my list.:rotfl2:

The Asylum is fairly famous for ripping off other movies, and horribly. But what do you expect from a company called The Asylum ;)
