Guys please stop. I really do not want to brig anyone, it is not something I enjoy doing at all, but you are twisting my arm.

This thread needs to stop now. The thread is totally inappropriate (and there will be fallout for it) and should be locked, but we can't as none of the moderators assigned to this forum are on, nor is Neal.

So once again I will ask.

Please stop posting here, its not helping things, just making them much worse. Please respect the request as although we are not moderators for this section of Subsim, we are Subsim moderators and do have the authority.

CaptainHaplo 02-02-10 01:09 PM

OK folks - something isn't right here. As for posting - I am willing to bet that Neal is NOT going to brig half the active members over this. I'll put my own minor mod status on that. Has anyone stopped to think that the posts don't sound like Hitman or NeonSamurai?

For one - neither of them are prone to throw their weight around where its uncalled for (though we are all human), and having not gotten a response via pm from either of them on this - my background in network security is kicking in.

I really am wondering if all the "outages" Subsim has recently had are not something more. In other words - has the site forums been comprimised? If so, then it will be addressed as soon as it can be.

However - in the interest of the community - lets stop feeding the troll here. We can be fairly sure that the "General" and the OP are the same person (thanks Dowly!) - and there is no reason for anyone to suddenly jump to making it a:

Moderators vs Members

fight. After all - what do you think that does for the moron who started this? Instead of giving him a laugh, lets all take a deep breath, knowing it will be sorted out, and giving Neal and the proper people time to do that, instead of contributing to damaging what is a wonderful community.

Think hard about that before you post next in this thread.

NeonSamurai 02-02-10 01:24 PM

I can't speak for Hitman, but my account has not been compromised.

Anyhow my request to stop posting in this thread is an official one as a moderator for Subsim.

I guess my first post was too much of a challenge to some members. As such I will delete it to avoid any further incitation (it will still be on record though, so I am not concealing it from Neal or any staff). It was brought on by the lack of respect being shown to Hitman, who also is a moderator here (though some may not have known it), and my desire to put an end to this thread until it can be locked. I also will not be issuing any infractions for responses after my first message.

The way this is going maybe we should vote to ban sh5 devs accounts ? :rotfl2:

FIREWALL 02-02-10 01:26 PM

This poll is way out of line. :nope:

SeaWolf U-57 02-02-10 01:36 PM

It was not that your or Hitman's post were considered a Challenge as you put it
they were offensive and rudely put it implied that you were talking to something that
was stuck on the bottom of you shoe or something similar.
I still feel you were both out of order. :nope:

And I have my baseball and glove ready :stare:

Well, looking back, I didn't read all the posting. It's obvious TG and the OP are the same. Why better wording could be used or just letting it go until a mod could lock it...it's obvious who the real culprit is...Let's not turn on Neon or Hitman, I imagine they've had enough with this person. Nor should they turn on the community.., but if you know who they are, lil respect..so we all have erred...No one can stop someone from posting from many PC's or different ISP's, but we can ignore it.

So let's stand up for Neon and Hitman....and I apoligize for my statements. Had I read every page, it would have been clear to me. For those that it was clear...cmon, they're just doing a job, none of us are perfect.

karamazovnew 02-02-10 01:50 PM

I've stayed out of this crap until now. I didn't even know that Hitman was still a moderator but the simple fact that a member with such experience and good behavior warns you about feeding the trolls should have been enough. Hats off to General, he must be glowing with self-content right about now.

Neon, you did the right about putting your boot and also lifting it up again, I'd hate to see Steve in the brig :timeout:. This wouldn't have happened if you or Hitman and the right to close this thread. Which brings me to my suggestion:
Considering that this section of the forum will be even more stormy in the days to come, I suggest that all forum moderators be allowed to block threads in the SH5 section.
Until the game arrives in the stores and we get our first real look, the amount of speculation, anticipation and frustration might overwhelm a single moderator (with no disrespect intended to Takeda).

I for one prefer a bit of order and good info. I can't wait for this entire section to be thrown to the archive and have good and useful threads again. Even a "I've just played it... sh5 sucks... drm sucks, ubi sucks, booo" thread will be more useful than this madness.

Perhaps I did over react. All I know is I come home, log in and see this mess, and Hitman's repeated requests being totally ignored or worse (and he is a moderator). So I react in support of him as he had issued several warnings to stop. But that didn't work, so I am trying a more calm approach to put a halt to this (which is the primary objective here).

If you felt offended, then I offer my apologies. My goal was simply to get this thread under control. I try my best to be evenhanded and respectful to all members, but I am not perfect.

SeaWolf U-57 02-02-10 01:56 PM

Thank you for your reply because of these words I also apologize to you and I will no longer feed the troll

CaptainHaplo 02-02-10 02:00 PM

For now - since it looks like most everyone is on the same page, lets give this thread a rest so that the OP isn't able to laugh any more at what we ALL have allowed.

If you think someone crossed a line - PM that person or address it, or sent it to the proper people if you feel the need. If you can accept that everyone is human, and we all take up for our own most of the time, then lets move on.

Or - as one poster on here has said in the past:

Nothing to see here now, thank you and carry on!

Instead of posting futher - I suggest everyone check this out instead!

Oh Capt, we can't end it on that link....Let's do Neon a real favor to get his mind off this crap...

For Neon....forgive us all and accept this small token my crew found off Wewak.

I'm posting now, not as a challenge to anyone, but as a response to the last few posts.

On the one hand I took up the challenge simply because I thought it was misguided of the moderators to shout and threaten, and I certainly would have honored a simple request.

On the other I completely agree with their stance. The thread was a bad one from the start, and I posted in it for right or wrong because sometimes a little levity can be a good thing, and anybody can let themselves get out of control sometimes (myself more than some might know).

I've talked to Neon privately, and I stand behind my willingness to go to the brig for defying what I saw as authority for authority's sake. I also willingly apologize to any and all for any trouble caused by my stance.

Neal and staff certainly don't need any more headaches, and they've all had quite a few over the 'fun and games' concerning SH5.

One way or another, this will be my last post in this thread, just for the sake of unity if nothing else.
