G'day all,
Being able to raise and lower the SD mast while submerged is, INMO, a "must have" mod and I was very happy to stumble into this post, thx Anvart. Having said that, I found this post after loading the 1.5 patch, but applied Anvart's mod with JSGME anyway, of course it did not work so I removed it with JSGME. Then I read the post by aanker and decided to give his method a go. When I opened the commands.cfg and the menu.txt files aanker's suggested changes were already in place. I then backed out the majority of mods, leaving historic 4 blade props, sober's sand, mts, and beter compass, and black smoke. I re-applied the Anvart's mod and started SH4 when I get to the menu page to select what I want to do, Sub School, America Career, U-Boat career, ect. I found the word American was missing but career was still there and the was an empty slot where U-Boat Career should be in; going past that point will result in a crash. I used JSGME to remove the SD mod, American and U-Boat career now appear in the menu and the commands.cfg and menu txt files remain modified as suggested by Aanker. I have no doubt I errored some place, but just can see where; suggestions? Thx Bob |
Hi Bob, I hope you saved the pristine clean untouched unmodified ver. 1.5 commands.cfg and menu.txt files. Somehow it looks like they are mixed up and maybe the JSGME isn't seeing the correct files? I don't know.
Anyway I would uninstall all mods that affect commands.cfg and menu.txt and start over. No changes should appear in the unmodified files and SH4 ver 1.5 should run good with all menus showing correctly etc. before you begin. I'm not familiar with all your mods but you may need to (hand edit) - make changes to accomodate more than one mod in the commands.cfg and menu.txt files to the other mod before the other mod with these SD changes is installed wth the JSGME. I hand edit everything in my installation the old fashoned way and although it is a lot of work I don't use the JSGME.... unbelievable right? lol ... (instead I make lots of backups) Sorry, wish I could be of more help... and also for my convoluted attempt to explain this. Art |
G'day,
Thx much for the detailed reply Art, it's much appreciated. Sadly, I must report, I did not back up commands.cfg and menu.txt before applying the SD mod for the first time, so I fear to correct the problem it's going to be a reload. A reload more than likely needs to be done anyway as I mistakenly added several 1.4 mods after appling the 1.5 patch. I completely agree with adding mods "the old fashioned way", I think I just got lazy. Again, thanks for the info. Cheers Bob |

i followed your instructions and redid my stock v1.5 files and then used anvarts sim file and everything works fine now. it raises and lowers by using the "shift+x" keys. :yeah: thanks for your very helpfull post and thank you anvart for giving us a great mod. EDIT: i think i found the problem with the download version, its got a typo error it actually reads: 4415=Rising SD antenna!;Rising snorkel! instead of correctly saying - 4415=Raising SD antenna!;Raising snorkel! you must change the spelling for it to work  |

The main thing is you got it to work. Skwasjer posted how to edit your own sim file with S3D (once I gained some confidence using S3D I eventually did) ..... although the 1.4 version of the sim in Anvart's mod works just fine in 1.5. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...5&postcount=45 I really like, and have had a lot of fun with S3D. Everyone should keep it in their tool-kit - IMO Happy Hunting! Art |

http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...ebster_egg.jpg (I happened to be eating a hard boiled egg) The game or Menu.txt doesn't care what it says - with a few exceptions. Anvart's 1.4 sim works with 1.5 but you must edit the changes into the 1.5 commands cfg - and also menu txt as described above. As I said this is Anvart's outstanding mod not mine. Happy Hunting! There is a toggle switch command Toggle_snorkel that can be added to a button on the radar tab. the easiest way i know to do this is to use jimimadrid's Menumaker. I did and it works fine.
Warning: If the mod does not work take a look and see if the mast is out of the water with the external cam. You might have to adjust the " SnorkelDepth= (number in meters)" in the sub's NSS_(Your Sub's Class).cfg file to get the antenna out of water using a button. The button always takes the sub to the exact number in that file every time, if it takes the sub deeper than the mast can rise, the radar will not work:DL |
