Should I pack it into a .DAT, or release it as .TGAs only?

Also pondering doing up some Icy Slickers as well (thats slang for rain gear, if you didn't know :88) ). though, I need to study the texture placement before I get started.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but if .TGAs mean you could install this mid-patrol and .DATs mean you'd have to be in port to install this, please choose the way that let's you do this in mid-patrol - I'd love to use JSGME to load this up once I get up into the proper latitudes, and then remove it when I get back down further south.

If there's any way to do it, iced-up rain gear would be a very cool addition - sort of the "icing" on the cake, so to speak :D (again, as long as it could be installed/removed via JSGME along with the u-boat skin as needed)

Great work

I think the difference between DAT and TGA files is GWX. If you use one type file and not the other you lose the cable fix that GWX introduces to the U-Boats.

Shaffer4 01-23-07 08:35 PM

I could see no difference in the cables between running a .dat skin and the .tga version of the iced boat.

Shaffer4 01-23-07 08:51 PM

I would think that since the cable changes should be on the model and that the textures placed in the Textures folder override those in the dat file that the cables shouldn't be effected by this. but, I'm no pro.

Tga is normally the preference for GWX

Shaffer4 01-24-07 03:43 AM

I know how to pack it... however, outside of Images I have never posted a File to the web.. what do I need to do there? lol

The cable fix contained in GWX is for the IX boats.
The compass fix contained in GWX is for the VII boats.

The compass fix is obvious however the cable fix is a little more subtle. The issue was that the cable would run from the conning tower to the bow & stern and just stop. The fix has included a 'bracket' for the cable to attach to.

This is correct the texture folder is the last thing to be read when starting SH3.

Release this as TGA textures only, that way they are 99% compatible with all supermods etc.

Arrange your file structure as follows:
Iced Uboat > data > Textures > TNormal > tex - (then place your TGA's here)

Then zip or rar the folder and upload to filefront. To do this, goto filefront and open an account. Once you have an account, make sure you are logged in and choose from the left Add File. Then use the page to browse to your zipped file and begin the upload. Once the u/l is complete FF will give you a URL link for posting.

Awesome looking! - just D/L'ed and can't wait to see how this looks on my boat, currently on patrol near Iceland in Feb 1944.

Can you make one without the wavey waterline? like a straight waterline transition instead? its very good looking! I just got assigned to the 11th Flotilla in Bergen over at Wolves at War. So, I need something like this right away. Good work!

Off topic but I'm not sure how to start a new post

Hi Danilisa,

I have had a yarn to you previously about your uboat skin which is excellent and thout to ask a question.

Is there any way more fruit boxes, netted food, bananas, hams and salamis can be stuffed into the interior of the our boats. Say throughout the controll room, captains cabin radio and sound rooms.
Looking at Das Boot recently I noticed how full of preserved meats, boxes and tins of food they packed into the uboat. Obviously this was set dressing for the film but when you read first hand acounts of how these boats put to see you soon realise they started out stuffed to the gills with food for the crew, is it possible to stuff or hang more meat and fruit and stuff into our boats, I guess a little more eye candy
